It has become a layered ecosystem \u2014 of neighbourhood bars, large breweries, intimate cocktail spaces, visually driven clubs and music-focused venues. The crowd is just as varied: IT professionals unwinding after work, <span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"3\"\/>students seeking novelty, loyal regulars, families out on weekends, and <span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"5\"\/>visitors keen to see another side of the city.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"7\"\/><span class=\"strong\" data-ua-type=\"1\" onclick=\"stpPgtnAndPrvntDefault(event)\">LED screens and immersive tech add to the nightlife magic in the city\u2019s pub culture<\/span><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"9\"\/>VJ Harish has seen a major shift \u2014 from sound-led nights to fully immersive experiences. <!-- -->\u201cEarlier, it was hard to convince venues that visuals mattered. Now they see it as critical,\u201d he says. As music styles evolved \u2014 from EDM and house to techno and beyond \u2014 visual design followed. \u201cMusic is always primary. Our job is to support it, not overpower the artiste,\u201d he adds. Technology has been the biggest enabler. \u201cWe moved from projectors to LED screens and immersive setups,\u201d he explains, adding that Bengaluru often leads the way. \u201c3D projection mapping and cutting-edge concert visuals usually start here before spreading to other cities,\u201d he says. Despite occasional concert cancellations, Harish doesn\u2019t see infrastructure as the problem. \u201cIt\u2019s about realistic expectations. Not every artiste can sell 15,000 tickets. When sales don\u2019t match projections, tours get cancelled across India \u2014 not just here.\u201d Audiences, he adds, have matured. <!-- -->\u201cEarlier, you\u2019d see the same faces everywhere. People also want live bands, comedy, or a relaxed evening<\/p>\n<p>VJ Harish<small\/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"20\"\/><span class=\"strong\" data-ua-type=\"1\" onclick=\"stpPgtnAndPrvntDefault(event)\">I&#8217;ve watched the music scene change over the years: DJ Anoop<\/span><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"22\"\/><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"23\"\/>Few have witnessed Bengaluru\u2019s nightlife evolve like DJ Anoop Absolute. Having spent over 33 years behind the console, he remembers a time before CDs, streaming or the internet. Bengaluru was already cosmopolitan then, but different. <!-- -->\u201cYou wouldn\u2019t hear Bollywood in clubs. We were at par with the European dance music scene,\u201d he says. DJs closely followed global charts, and the city earned a reputation as India\u2019s dance music capital.<!-- --> The IT boom changed that. \u201cBollywood nights came in, especially in areas like Koramangala. The crowd diversified, and so did the music,\u201d he observes. He\u2019s critical of today\u2019s DJ culture. \u201cTracks play for 30 seconds because of Instagram attention spans. <!-- -->It\u2019s more about shock value than a musical journey,\u201d he points out.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"30\"\/> <\/p>\n<div class=\"_oWMq   \">\n<p>Old-school DJs learned without YouTube or shortcuts. That foundation still matters<\/p>\n<p>Anoop Absolute<small\/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"33\"\/><span class=\"strong\" data-ua-type=\"1\" onclick=\"stpPgtnAndPrvntDefault(event)\">From neighbourhood bars to Insta-era pubs<\/span> <span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"36\"\/>For Fino Frangline, founder of Mykos Bar &amp; Kitchen and other outlets, the transformation has been swift. Having entered the pub business in 2019, he feels he has witnessed a generational shift. \u201cWhen we opened 21st Amendment Gastrobar in Indiranagar, it was a simple neighbourhood bar \u2014 no fancy interiors or heavy digital marketing. <!-- -->We relied on word of mouth,\u201d he says. However, when it comes to late-night partying, Fino feels Bengaluru has lost some ground.<!-- --> \u201cCompared to Mumbai or Delhi, we shut early. Timing plays a huge role. When other cities run till 2 or 3 am, we wrap <span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"41\"\/>up much earlier. What will change is destinations \u2014 large entertainment hubs with multiple spaces<\/p>\n<p>Anirudh Kheny<small\/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"48\"\/> <span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"50\"\/>Crowds, he notes, are now more predictable yet diverse. \u201cWeekdays are largely corporate, while weekends see more families.\u201d <!-- -->Looking ahead, he expects a correction. \u201cThere are too many pubs right now \u2014 it feels like a bubble. For him, nightlife is no longer a single idea. \u201cEarlier, it was mostly DJ-driven parties or simple pubs where you\u2019d grab a beer and head home,\u201d he says. According to local administration sources, a special ward is reserved at a hospital nearby for people who may pass out after a night out. Those brought in are allowed to rest until they are stable and can leave safely.
