It left be hind a feeling of slowing down, and of being part of something larger than oneself.<!-- --> The eco-conscious music festival once again transformed the outskirts of the city into a space where art, sustainability, sound and community seamlessly came together.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"3\"\/><span class=\"strong\" data-ua-type=\"1\" onclick=\"stpPgtnAndPrvntDefault(event)\">A visual playground rooted in nature<\/span> <span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"6\"\/>For Neeti Mahesh, who had a stall at the festival, the first thing that stood out was the visual spectacle. \u201cIt was as beautiful as ever,\u201d she says. \u201cThe installations were incredible. The Octopus stage was my favourite. <!-- -->The Octopus stage was my favourite. The Vulture stage and Spider stage were also stunning.\u201d The Octopus stage drew people in even when no act was playing. The Spider stage added drama, while the Vulture stage quickly became the place everyone seemed to be rushing towards.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"11\"\/><span class=\"strong\" data-ua-type=\"1\" onclick=\"stpPgtnAndPrvntDefault(event)\">Music that crossed genres and generations<\/span> <span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"14\"\/>From Carnatic music to jazz inflected fusion, techno, electronic and experimental sets, Echoes offered a wide musical palette. \u201cI don\u2019t remember Carnatic music being part of Echoes earlier, but it was there this year,\u201d Neeti points out. \u201cThere were also a lot more fusion bands and much more electronic music.\u201d The festival retained its local roots too. As always, Echoes opened with Dolu Kunitha at the gates, followed by the vibrant Mangalorean tiger dance, a tradition that attendees now associate deeply with the festival.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"18\"\/><span class=\"strong\" data-ua-type=\"1\" onclick=\"stpPgtnAndPrvntDefault(event)\">A festival for families, too<\/span> <span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"22\"\/>The fest continued to be a family-friendly space. Children were seen exploring installations, participating in workshops and collecting seed pods. With painting, pottery and immersive learning spaces curated, it ensured that even its youngest visitors were engaged.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"24\"\/><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"25\"\/><span class=\"strong\" data-ua-type=\"1\" onclick=\"stpPgtnAndPrvntDefault(event)\">Sustainability at the core of the fest<\/span><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"27\"\/>For long-time attendee Akshay Gupta, who has been to Echoes six times, the festival\u2019s sustainability focus remains its strongest pillar. \u201cThe stages are made out of recycled metal, the installations are reused all of that really stands out. <!-- -->It\u2019s always refreshing because it\u2019s in a jungle-like space, not a concrete city venue,\u201d he says. Actor Samyukta Hornad, attending Echoes for the first time, echoed this sentiment and loved the reusable cup system and minimal waste approach.<!-- --> \u201cIt subtly influences people to do the right thing. That\u2019s very important in the long run,\u201d she shares.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"32\"\/> <span class=\"strong\" data-ua-type=\"1\" onclick=\"stpPgtnAndPrvntDefault(event)\">More than a festival<\/span> <span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"36\"\/>For actor Samyukta, the experience went far beyond music. \u201cIt was an absolute detox; there\u2019s no network, so you\u2019re cut off from the outside world. It\u2019s grounding and healing,\u201d she says.
