Before its opening weekend, we noted at TheWrap<\/a> that James Cameron<\/a>\u2019s \u201cAvatar: Fire and Ash<\/a>\u201d was a shoo-in to become Hollywood\u2019s highest-grossing film this year, but whether it would join the previous \u201cAvatar<\/a>\u201d films in the 20th Century<\/a>\/Lightstorm<\/a> franchise in the elite $2 billion box office club was much less certain.<\/p>\n

After this opening weekend with an $88 million domestic launch and $345 million worldwide, it is looking more unlikely that \u201cFire and Ash\u201d will get there even with the legs usually offered by the holiday season.<\/p>\n
