Kate Hudson got to explore new music choices after collaborating with Neil Diamond on Song Sung Blue.<\/i><\/p>\n

The Oscar-nominated actress admitted that Diamond \u201cwasn’t someone whom I grew up with, so it was a nice discovery for me to get to know his music.\u201d<\/p>\n

Taking on the role of Claire Sardina meant immersing herself in Diamond\u2019s catalogue, as Hudson portrays one half of the real-life couple who channelled their love for the legendary singer into a tribute act they launched in the late 1980s.<\/p>\n

Song Sung Blue stars Hudson alongside Hugh Jackman as Claire and Mike Sardina, better known on stage as Milwaukee-based duo Lightning & Thunder, with the pair performing several of Diamond\u2019s most recognisable tracks throughout the film.<\/p>\n

Reflecting on the experience, Hudson said anchoring the story in Diamond\u2019s music brought an added emotional depth to the project, calling it a rewarding way to honour two devoted fans.<\/p>\n

She added that watching the finished film left her uplifted, describing it as fun, heartfelt, and the kind of movie that leaves audiences energised long after the credits roll.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love that it lacks cynicism. There’s something really pure about this movie,\u201d Hudson said. \u201cIt delivers something unexpected to an audience.\u201d<\/p>\n
