Season 2 of \u201cHigh Potential\u201d has been on a midseason break since Oct. 28, but when does the comedy drama return?<\/p>\n

There won\u2019t be a new episode of \u201cHigh Potential\u201d on Tuesday, Dec. 23. Season 2 of the ABC series will resume on Tuesday, Jan. 6<\/b>. <\/p>\n

\u201cHigh Potential\u201d stars Kaitlin Olson as Morgan Gillory, a single mother of three with an unusually high IQ of 160. Due to her extraordinary observation skills, well of obscure knowledge and unorthodox thinking patterns, Morgan was recruited to work as a consultant for the Los Angeles Police Department. <\/p>\n

Warning: Spoilers ahead for season 2 of \u201cHigh Potential.\u201d <\/b><\/i><\/p>\n

The last time \u201cHigh Potential\u201d viewers saw Morgan, she and her partner Detective Adam Karadec (Daniel Sunjata) were investigating the theft of a Rembrandt painting. After Morgan returned to the crime scene without notifying anyone from the LAPD, she received a verbal lashing from new captain Nick Wagner (Steve Howey), who called her behavior \u201creckless and insubordinate.\u201d <\/p>\n

Later in the midseason finale, Wagner pressed Karadec for details on a case that\u2019s very close to Morgan\u2019s heart: the disappearance of her husband Roman. Roman went missing when Morgan\u2019s teenage daughter Ava (Amirah J) was just a baby. The LAPD managed to track down a man named Arthur (Mekhi Phifer), who gave Morgan a backpack that belonged to Roman.<\/p>\n

The Roman storyline<\/a> ended on a cliffhanger during the midseason finale. After the LAPD found photos of an unidentified man (John Pyper-Ferguson) in Roman\u2019s backpack, that same man showed up unexpected in Arthur\u2019s car. He threatened him, telling him to get ahold of the backpack again. <\/p>\n

The stolen painting case will also continue when \u201cHigh Potential\u201d returns in January. Things turned romantic between Morgan and art recovery specialist Rhys Eastman (Aiden Turner) before she realized that Rhys was the art thief they\u2019d been chasing. At that exact moment, Karadec called to inform Morgan that the museum director (Reggie De Leon) had been found dead.<\/p>\n

Viewers will have to wait until \u201cHigh Potential\u201d returns on Jan. 6 to learn Rhys\u2019 true motives. Morgan already determined that the theft was not about money, seeing as more valuable paintings were left untouched.<\/p>\n

\u201cHigh Potential\u201d also stars Javicia Leslie (Daphne Forrester), Deniz Akdeniz (Lev \u201cOz\u201d \u00d6zdil), Matthew Lamb (Elliot Radovic), Judy Reyes (Selena Soto) and Taran Killam (Ludo Radovic).<\/p>\n
