GLADSTONE, Mo. (KCTV) – As Jackson County officials work to plan the Royals\u2019 future, fans and businesses reflect on the impact the team brings to their community. <\/p>\n

At Northland Baseball Cards<\/a> in Gladstone, everything Royals rests on the shelves at Brandon Castillo\u2019s family business. The shop has been open for about eight years. <\/p>\n

\u201cA huge chunk of what we sell is Royals stuff, Royals memorabilia from all the way from George Brett to Bobby Witt,\u201d Castillo said. <\/p>\n

The store preserves plenty of history and serves as evidence of the face value of the Royals franchise to the KCMO metro community. As the organization searches for a new place to play its games, Jackson County Executive Phil LeVota works to keep them close by. <\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re looking at different sites in Kansas and Missouri,\u201d LeVota said. \u201cI\u2019m confident we can keep the Royals here in Jackson County.\u201d <\/p>\n

LeVota said conversations have been good with the Royals, and he is confident the county will reach an agreement. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t want to lose the Kansas City Royals,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019re gonna do everything we can to keep them here.\u201d <\/p>\n

Morgan Rainey, whose family has attended games since he can remember, said he would hate to see the team leave Missouri. <\/p>\n

\u201cWhat a thing to move, you know,\u201d Rainey said. \u201cI\u2019m used to driving through Jackson County. That\u2019s gonna be a bummer, yeah.\u201d <\/p>\n

Rainey said he will always remember 2015 and believes sports franchises are bigger than business. <\/p>\n

\u201cNothing beats the hype and the feeling of the 2014 and \u201915 Royals because that\u2019s the first thing that broke the dam open,\u201d Rainey said. \u201cThen we all had a Royals hangover after they kinda had to rebuild. Then Andy Reid came and then Mahomes came, and man, that was really special.\u201d <\/p>\n

Castillo agreed about the team\u2019s broader impact. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe Royals are very important for the economy, the culture,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

Rainey said he is excited that the Chiefs are staying in the metro. He also emphasized the Royals connection to Kansas City, Missouri. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s KCMO, it\u2019s on the Royals City Connect jerseys. It\u2019s KCMO,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
