Country legend Garth Brooks made an eye-catching fashion statement as he made an unexpected appearance at The Kennedy Center Honors.\u00a0<\/p>\n
On Tuesday, December 23, Garth made a guest appearance at the annual awards during a segment celebrating the legacy of the famed rock band<\/a> KISS. As he took the stage, the 63-year-old artist performed their chart-topping classic rock song ‘Shout It Out Loud.’<\/p>\n And as Garth took the stage, many of his fans took to X (formerly Twitter), bashing the singer as he was seen rocking a rainbow tie during the occasion, seemingly expressing his support for the LGBTQ+ community and attempting to protest President Donald Trump’s appearance.<\/a> But, this actually turned out to be a misconception, as the country star was actually sporting the previous Kennedy Center Honors sash.<\/p>\n Garth was gifted the rainbow-colored sash back in 2020 when he was an honoree at the ceremony. The Oklahoma-native was previously recognized at the Kennedy Center Honors for his contributions to American culture, with the televised special airing in June 2021 due to pandemic delays.<\/p>\n At the time, honorees were gifted rainbow-colored sashes to symbolize the arts. The ribbons were later replaced this year under President Trump’s leadership. The new ribbon designed by Tiffany & Co., features a navy blue ribbon with a gold disc with rainbow stripes on the actual medal itself.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Someone else asked, “I……….. there are all of these deranged people like, attacking garth brooks?”<\/p>\n Another agreed, “These Garth Brooks posts are BRUTAL.”<\/p>\n And a fifth person chimed in, “If you’re going to criticize Garth Brooks, criticize him for butchering a KISS song, not for wearing his Kennedy Center Honors ribbon.
