Princess Kate<\/a> and Princess Charlotte<\/a> surprised everyone watching the Princess of Wales<\/a>\u2019s Christmas Carol Concert<\/a> on Christmas Eve with a poignant piano duet<\/a>, including the classical music composer responsible for the song. Erland Cooper, the 41-year-old Scottish composer who wrote \u201cHolm Sound,\u201d told BBC Breakfast<\/em> that \u201cit was a big surprise.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d had a chat with the princess earlier in the year and I knew she enjoyed playing this piece of music with family,\u201d Erland said. \u201cIt was a big surprise to be invited to Windsor Castle<\/a> just last week and hear it performed by a pair of princesses.\u201d At Windsor Castle<\/a>, Princess Kate and Princess Charlotte<\/a> \u201cplayed [the song] several times and then they asked me to have a wee go as well,\u201d said Cooper. \u201cI gave a few pointers, but I didn\u2019t need to. I think I was there as a cheerleader.\u201d<\/p>\n

He described Princess Charlotte<\/a> as \u201cvery confident\u201d and said, \u201cshe played it really well. She plays it so beautifully.\u201d The 2 minute, 55 second song has been streamed 15 million times on Spotify and has 205,000 views on YouTube, with one commenter saying \u201cPrincess Catherine<\/a> and Princess Charlotte<\/a> brought me here. I\u2019m staying for the sublime music.\u201d<\/p>\n
