Online<\/a><\/p>\nMelissa Mae Carlton<\/strong> is mourning a tragic loss.<\/span><\/p>\nThe influencer shared that her <\/span>younger<\/span> daughter <\/span>Molly<\/strong> died on Dec. 25, just over a year and a half after her older sister <\/span>Abigail <\/strong>died from sepsis at the age of 9 in April 2024. <\/span><\/p>\n\u201cOn Christmas morning, our sweet Molly girl, and her big sister Abi were reunited,\u201d Melissa wrote on <\/span>Instagram<\/span><\/span> Dec. 26. \u201cThis is the only thing giving me even a small sense of comfort. Molly missed her sister so deeply.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\nMelissa added that she and husband <\/span>Tom<\/strong> Carlton<\/strong>\u2014who are also parents to son <\/span>Harry<\/strong> and daughter <\/span>Lily<\/strong>\u2014were \u201cdevastated\u201d and \u201cin disbelief.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n\u201cWe are exhausted and shaken after a day filled with trauma and heartbreak,\u201d she wrote. \u201cI feel numb. I cannot yet accept that this is real. I am not ready for this pain.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\nMelissa thanked her <\/span>followers<\/span> for their prayers, asking that they continue sending love and support to her family in the \u201cdays and weeks ahead\u201d as \u201cthere will be so much to do and to organize, and we will need strength beyond our own.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\nMore from E! \u201cLast night, through tears, Harry told me that when we boarded the plane to Arizona on Monday, Molly leaned over and told him she wanted to be with Abi,\u201d Melissa recalled. \u201cThrough sobs, he said, \u2018She got what she wanted.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\nIn <\/span>a follow<\/span>-up<\/span> post<\/span><\/a>, Melissa <\/span>shared that while they didn\u2019t have an official diagnosis for what caused Molly\u2019s death, doctors believe she had a genetic heart condition, noting that they believe that may have also been the case for Abigail.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\nMelissa Mae Carlton\/Instagram<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\u201cThis understanding came because Molly was able to be monitored in the hospital, which we were not able to do with Abi,\u201d she continued. \u201cI\u2019ve never felt satisfied with the answers we were given for her. But this type of condition, we\u2019ve been told that even a minor illness could potentially trigger a sudden cardiac event.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\nAccording to Melissa, they were told that in most cases, the type of cardiac event Molly experienced is \u201cnot survivable.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n\u201cI hope we will get more answers soon,\u201d she said, \u201cand will be doing more genetic investigation for our family now we have possibly a clearer avenue to explore.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\nFor the latest breaking news updates, click here to download the E!
