When George Clooney<\/a> was preparing to make his Broadway debut appearing as CBS<\/a> news correspondent Edward R. Murrow<\/a> in \u201cGood Night, and Good Luck<\/a>,\u201d he invited \u201c60 Minutes<\/a>\u201d to sit in on rehearsals. As the cast gathered for their first read through, Clooney<\/a> talked about the story\u2019s prescience \u2014 though it\u2019s set during McCarthyism in the 1950s, he saw parallels with the political pressure that news organizations face in the second Trump administration.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen the other three estates fail \u2014 when the judiciary and the executive and the legislative branches fail us \u2014 the fourth estate has to succeed,\u201d Clooney said.
