Leah Remini<\/a><\/span><\/strong> is calling out NBC Los Angeles after the local station aired an advertisement for the Church of Scientology.<\/p>\n

\u201cScientology has often bought 30-second and 1-minute TV ads (mostly on local television),\u201d Remini, 55, wrote via X<\/span><\/a> on Monday, December 29. \u201cIt is something I strongly object to, but allowing Scientology to buy a full 30-minute block of airtime is unacceptable.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the former King of Queens<\/i><\/span><\/a> actress, \u201cSomeone who knows nothing about Scientology and happened to watch this program would not realize that it was a paid advertisement and might reasonably assume it was programming produced or endorsed by NBC, which could lead them into Scientology.\u201d<\/p>\n

Us Weekly<\/i> has reached out to NBC Los Angeles and the Church of Scientology for comment.<\/p>\n

July marked 12 years since Remini famously left the Church of Scientology. Since renouncing the controversial organization, the former cohost of <\/i>The Talk<\/i><\/span><\/a> has written about her experience in a memoir, Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology<\/i>. She also starred in the Emmy-winning A&E docuseries, Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath<\/i>.<\/p>\n

In response, the Church of Scientology issued a statement regarding Remini on its website<\/span><\/a>, claiming the actress was \u201cexpelled\u201d from the organization because of her \u201crepeated ethical lapses.\u201d The organization also accused the actress of harassing her former church.<\/p>\n

Before 2025 comes to an end, Remini asked her supporters to contact<\/span><\/a> NBC Los Angeles to \u201clet them know what a serious mistake this was and urge them to never again allow Scientology to purchase a block of airtime like this.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIt\u2019s been nearly 12 years since Leah Remini left the Church of Scientology \u2014 a bold and very public break from an organization known for its secrecy and control. Since then, she\u2019s worked hard to expose the practices of the controversial religion, including in her 2015 memoir, Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology and her Emmy-winning [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cFor a major network to present this material in this way is deeply alarming,\u201d she claimed. \u201cI understand that Scientology has been purchasing increasing amounts of advertising time across the country, but this crosses a line.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a June cover story with Us<\/i><\/span><\/a>, Remini opened up about her life after leaving the Church of Scientology more than a decade ago.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve learned just how strong I really was. I was willing to stand up for what I believed in,\u201d she told Us<\/i>, adding that she doesn\u2019t regret using her voice to raise awareness about the church\u2019s alleged controversies.<\/p>\n
