William Sims, a member of The Frankfort Christian Academy\u2019s boys basketball team, has picked up where he left off last season.<\/p>\n

He scored 38 points in the Royals\u2019 77-59 win Saturday at Robertson County and has been chosen as the Traditional Bank Athlete of the Week.<\/p>\n

Sims was the Royals\u2019 leading scorer last year with 17.5 points per game. Now a senior, he\u2019s leading TFCA again, averaging 16.3 points while shooting 41.2% from the field and 72.7% from the free throw line.<\/p>\n

Sims has been playing basketball at TFCA since he was in the fifth grade, and he\u2019s been on the varsity team since he was in the eighth grade.<\/p>\n

Sims is the son of Bridget and Cory Sims.<\/p>\n

State Journal:<\/strong> What is your role on this year\u2019s team?<\/p>\n

Sims: <\/strong>I would say my role this year is to lead the team with energy as a senior captain and look for ways to score the ball.<\/p>\n

SJ:<\/strong> What do you like about this year\u2019s team?<\/p>\n

Sims:<\/strong> I really like how this year\u2019s team has built a real culture around basketball. I can say in all the years I\u2019ve played here I\u2019ve never seen a team put this much work in as a whole.<\/p>\n

SJ:<\/strong> How do you think the team has improved since last season?<\/p>\n

Sims:<\/strong> With everybody from last season returning I think we\u2019ve really improved in our physical capabilities and game IQ. I\u2019ve also got to say there have been a lot of positive additions to our coaching staff and that in turn improved our mentality as a team.<\/p>\n

SJ:<\/strong> Do you have a favorite shot?<\/p>\n

Sims:<\/strong> I like shooting from everywhere really, but if I had to choose a favorite it would probably be corner threes.<\/p>\n

SJ:<\/strong> What other activities are you involved in at school?<\/p>\n

Sims:<\/strong> I\u2019m involved in a number of clubs at my school: Beta, Student Council, National Honor Society, academic team, and Chick-fil-A leadership. I also do other sports like soccer and track.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
