THE ONGOING SCANDAL SURROUNDING MARIUS BORG

The controversy around Crown Princess Mette-Marit\u2019s oldest son,
\nMarius Borg H\u00f8iby
\ncontinued into 2025<\/a>. In August, he was officially charged with
\n32 offences, including four counts of rape. His stepfather, Crown
\nPrince Haakon,
\nspoke out for the first time publicly afterwards<\/a>, commenting
\nonly that \u201cit will be the courts who decide in the
\nend.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

H\u00f8iby is set to go to trial in early 2026 and could face up to
\n10 years in prison. As 2025 came to an end, Crown Princess
\nMette-Marit said that people judging her had been hard.<\/p>\n

At the outset, though, the Norwegian Royal Court was quick to
\nstress that it was not a serious health condition and there was no
\ncause for alarm. Within a month,
\nshe was back at work<\/a> and has been working consistently ever
\nsince.<\/p>\n

Just as the Norwegian Royal Family was getting ready to wind
\ndown for the holidays, they dropped sad news about Crown Princess
\nMette-Marit\u2019s health: the future queen is
\nbeing assessed for a lung transplant.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cWe are approaching the time when a lung transplant must be
\nperformed, and we are making the necessary preparations so that it
\nwill be possible when that time comes<\/em>,\u201d Dr. Are Martin Holm,
\nthe head of the Pulmonary Department at the Rikshospitalet,
\nin a statement provided by the Royal
\nCourt.<\/a><\/p>\n

Crown Princess Mette-Marit is not yet on the lung transplant
\nwaiting list, but it\u2019ll happen in the future. As she told NRK in the annual \u2018Year with the Royal Family\u2019<\/a>
\ndocumentary aired at the year\u2019s end, \u201cI have always hoped that
\nwe would be able to keep the disease in check with medication, and
\nthe development has actually been quite slow up until now. Whereas
\nnow the development has been faster than both I and the doctors had
\nhoped for.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The news came
\nafter a period of pulmonary rehabilitation in October<\/a>, where
\nthe Norwegian Royal Court announced that the crown princess would
\nstep back from duties for the month in a bid to improve her health.
\nAnd earlier in March, the Court
\nrevealed that her symptoms were worsening<\/a> and her schedule
\nwould change daily depending on her needs.<\/p>\n

PRINCESS INGRID ALEXANDRA GOES DOWN UNDER<\/strong><\/p>\n

After completing her military training, Princess Ingrid
\nAlexandra announced that for the next three years, the
\nthird-in-line will be a student at the
\nUniversity of Sydney in Australia<\/a>, reading for a political
\neconomy and international relations degree. While she\u2019s a student,
\nshe won\u2019t be expected to carry out royal duties, though she
\nattended
\nseveral engagements<\/a> before
\nmoving to Australia<\/a> and more after coming home for the
\nbreak\u2014including
\nattending the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony for the first
\ntime<\/a>!<\/p>\n

\nmonarchy\u2026 this year, it was Princess M\u00e4rtha Louise and Durek

\nRebel Royals: An Unlikely Love Story premiered to immediate
\ncontroversy<\/a><\/em> in Norway, and it was established that the
\ncouple had broken their agreement with the Royal Family to not use
\ntheir titles in connection with business ventures.<\/p>\n


\nKing Harald commented<\/a> on the documentary to say, \u201cWe\u2019re
\ngoing to try to do something about this through conversations.
\nWe\u2019re continuing the conversations with them. I think they\u2019re more
\nin line with us than it seems.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Crown Prince Haakon said: \u201cWe want there to be a clearer
\ndistinction between the activities of the Royal House and Princess
\nM\u00e4rtha Louise and Durek Verrett\u2019s projects and commercial
