August 19, 1969 \u2013 October 28, 2023. Much Loved. Friend.\u201d  <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Matthew Perry\u2019s new gravestone.  <span class=\"credit\">Hollywood Graveyard<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Perry starred as the beloved Chandler Bing on the sitcom \u201cFriends\u201d for ten seasons from 1994 to 2004. <\/p>\n<p>The series also featured David Schwimmer,\u00a0Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow and Matt LeBlanc. The cast has stayed tight-knit since the show went off the air in the early 2000s.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cThe crypt of Matthew Perry has been marked at Forest Lawn Hollywood \u2014 forever remembered in the hearts of friends and fans all over the world,\u201d the Hollywood Graveyard\u2019s Instagram caption read.  <\/p>\n<p>According to Perry\u2019s autopsy report, his death was due to\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/12\/15\/lifestyle\/ketamine-caused-matthew-perrys-death-doctors-say-what-to-know\/\">\u201cacute effects of ketamine,\u201d<\/a>\u00a0and the manner was accidental drowning.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>A look at Matthew Perry\u2019s updated grave.  <span class=\"credit\">Hollywood Graveyard<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Last February, the documentary \u201cMatthew Perry: A Hollywood Tragedy,\u201d premiered on Peacock. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think it\u2019s too soon for a [documentary]. Maybe many years down the line \u2026 We understand their decision not to appear.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMany of us remember getting that news that he had died, and then eventually getting the details [that gave] sort of waves of anger,\u201d he added. \u201cI feel like people still have him in their hearts and minds. As the\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/12\/15\/entertainment\/matthew-perrys-official-cause-of-death-revealed\/\">facts began to come out about what happened to him<\/a>, how he died and what possibly could have been a ring of people that sort of facilitated his death, I was really upset.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Throughout his life, Perry was open about his struggles with addiction. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer.  <span class=\"credit\">NBC<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cHe was someone who wanted to be remembered, not so much for his time on \u2018Friends\u2019 but for how he has been able to help other people with addiction issues. I think that that\u2019s still the case to this day, even after his death,\u201d said the director.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think he will have a legacy of helping other people. And Morgan [Fairchild] thought that was really the most important thing to communicate.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Fairchild, 75, who played Perry\u2019s mom on \u201cFriends,\u201d made an appearance in the doc. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Matthew Perry with dad John Bennett Perry. <span class=\"credit\">Instagram\/@mattyperry4<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Despite not appearing in the documentary, Perry\u2019s \u201cFriends\u201d co-stars have penned multiple touching tributes to their late pal on social media.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShot the pilot, \u2018Friends Like Us,\u2019 got picked up then immediately, we were at the NBC Upfronts. Then \u2026<br \/>You suggested we play poker AND made it so much fun while we initially bonded. Thank you for that,\u201d Kudrow posted on <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CzrZeG5P0n6\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Instagram<\/a> at the time of his death.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThank you for making me laugh so hard at something you said, that my muscles ached, and tears poured down my face EVERY DAY. Thank you for your open heart in a six way relationship that required compromise. Thank you for the best 10 years a person gets to have. Thank you for trusting me. Thank you for all I learned about GRACE and LOVE through knowing you. Thank you for the time I got to have with you, Matthew.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, Los Angeles federal court<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/12\/03\/us-news\/matthew-perrys-dr-ketamine-sentenced-for-his-role-in-actors-od-death\/\"> Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett sentenced Dr. Salvador<\/a> Plasencia to two 1\/2 years for his\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/06\/16\/entertainment\/doctor-who-helped-supply-matthew-perry-ketamine-will-plead-guilty-to-drug-charges\/\">role in supplying Perry<\/a>\u00a0with ketamine in the month leading up to his passing. <\/p>\n<p>At the sentencing, the prosecution submitted a statement from Perry\u2019s mom, Suzanne, and his stepdad, Keith Morrison, saying Plasencia \u201cis among the most culpable of all.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Plasencia is the first of five defendants who are set to be sentenced.
