Photo Courtesy of Fresh Look Photos.<\/small><\/em><\/p>\n Actress Quincey Szymeczek chatted about starring in the new vertical drama \u201cUnder the Hood\u201d opposite Cayman Cardiff<\/a>.<\/p>\n She opened up about being a part of the digital age, and she furnished her advice for hopefuls that wish to go into the acting and entertainment business.<\/p>\n On making this new Vigloo mini-series, she said, \u201cThe making of \u2018Under the Hood\u2019 was one of my favorite experiences so far in the entertainment industry.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe just had a whole lot of fun from cast to crew and knew we had a good story on our hands from day one,\u201d she added. <\/p>\n In \u201cUnder the Hood,\u201d she played the role of Selene Beaumont. \u201cI loved playing Selene\u2019s vulnerability,\u201d she admitted. <\/p>\n \u201cSelene wasn\u2019t a one note lead; she had pain she had to keep to herself until she found sanctuary in Jaxon (Cayman). I loved showing that emotional exchange in the character,\u201d she elaborated.<\/p>\n On working with Cayman Cardiff, she remarked, \u201cCayman is a strong, seasoned actor who also made the job so effortless. He was an incredible scene partner who knew how to hold space and mirror back to deliver the best performance.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cCayman is still one of my favorite scene partners to this day, and I can\u2019t wait to see where he goes in his career,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n On the lessons learned from the \u201cUnder the Hood\u201d screenplay, she shared, \u201cSelene had a lot of moments where she showed deep insecurity and weakness.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cI struggled justifying this until I better understood that all of her motivation came from her love for her father, which was a very relatable motivation for me. Once I unlocked that, I felt very connected to her,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n On being a performer in the digital age, she said, \u201cSocial media is a double-edged sword. I love that it\u2019s a fantastic tool for keeping us connected and promoting my work and gaining traction.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cVerticals have also been a huge blessing for my career and workload as an actor,\u201d she noted. <\/p>\n \u201cThe digital space can also be a detriment to mental health and I encourage everyone to balance their consumption with their own creation instead. Creating is a very powerful experience,\u201d she elaborated.<\/p>\n For young and aspiring actors, she said, \u201cThe best tool you have as an actor is being yourself. It\u2019s a cliche, but no one can recreate you.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cGet to know yourself, love yourself, and lead every interaction from the place of \u2018here I am, I love me,\u2019 and the right projects will find you,\u201d she suggested.<\/p>\n Regarding her definition of the word success, she said, \u201cSuccess to me means satisfaction.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cIf you put your best foot forward in your projects, it doesn\u2019t matter what you\u2019re working on, you can walk away from that project being proud of what you showed,\u201d she acknowledged.<\/p>\n \u201cDon\u2019t let anyone tell you whether or not you should feel satisfied with yourself; that\u2019s in your hands and sense of self,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n For her fans, she expressed, \u201cTo my fans and the supporters of the vertical space, thank you for continuing to watch our shows and give your feedback.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s so valuable to this blooming space and we have the opportunity to co-create it.
