For the Duffer brothers, Stranger Things <\/em>marks the end of an era\u2026 sort of. Though the hit Netflix<\/a> series is coming to an end after nine years and five seasons, fans won\u2019t be saying goodbye to the Stranger Things <\/em>universe for good. In fact, Ross and Matt Duffer have practically said as much: There\u2019s a Stranger Things <\/em>spinoff in the works.<\/p>\n The Duffers have remained tight-lipped when it comes to sharing details about the spinoff, though they have shared some <\/em>insight into what fans may be able to expect \u2014 and a Stranger Things <\/em>star has even weighed in on the discourse.<\/p>\n Will the same cast be involved? And what exactly have the Duffer brothers said about it? Yahoo is rounding up everything we know about the Stranger Things <\/em>spinoff (so far), below.<\/p>\n Unfortunately, Stranger Things <\/em>fans shouldn\u2019t expect to see any familiar faces in the spinoff series. Matt Duffer told Screenrant<\/a> of the forthcoming project: \u201cIt relates in some ways, but it really is a completely different story and a completely different location with completely different actors and characters. So it’s its own. It\u2019s really its own entity.\u201d<\/p>\n While it won\u2019t follow the Hawkins gang we\u2019ve come to know and love, the Stranger Things <\/em>spinoff, Matt Duffer previously told Variety<\/a>, will still be part of the show\u2019s brand and style of storytelling, and will revolve around \u201ckids, adventures, sci-fi\/fantasy, rather than increasingly expand what could become an insanely convoluted mythology.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cYou\u2019re starting with new characters \u2014 it\u2019s like clean slate,\u201d he told the outlet. \u201cYou\u2019re not tied up into any knots. There\u2019s something refreshing about it.\u201d<\/p>\n The Duffers will be involved in \u201chelping shepherd it along,\u201d per Variety, but given their new Paramount deal<\/a>, they won\u2019t serve as showrunners of the spinoff.<\/p>\n So far, Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike Wheeler, is the only member of the Stranger Things <\/em>cast to correctly guess what the spinoff may revolve around.<\/p>\n \u201cNobody \u2014 not Netflix, not any of the producers, not any of the directors, not any of the actors \u2014 nobody else has figured out what the spinoff is. Finn figured [it] out, which is pretty remarkable,\u201d Ross Duffer told Variety<\/a>. \u201cWe\u2019ve mind-melded with this kid a bit.\u201d<\/p>\n While chatting with Variety, Wolfhard speculated about what the forthcoming Stranger Things<\/em> spinoff could be about, and compared it to another beloved cult series.<\/p>\n \u201cLike David Lynch\u2019s Twin Peaks<\/em>,\u201d he told the outlet. \u201cSort of an anthology and different tones but similar universe or same universe. I think set in different places and all tied together through this mythology of the Upside Down. Don\u2019t even talk about Hawkins. Don\u2019t have any mention of our characters. They were toying around with ideas in case Netflix wanted them. I\u2019m sure they do, and I\u2019m sure it will happen, but there\u2019s nothing official. I think the coolest way, the way that I would do it, there has to be labs everywhere. If there was one in Hawkins, there\u2019s one in Russia.
