Foals<\/a>\u00a0have teased a new studio album,\u00a0describing 2026 as \u201cthe\u00a0year\u00a0of The Fire Horse\u201d.<\/p>\n The Oxford band\u00a0have\u00a0not released a record since 2022\u2019s \u2018Life Is Yours<\/a>\u2019, but in a post on social media today (January 1), they have strongly hinted that a new album will be on its way later this year.<\/p>\n \u201cHNY! 2026\u2026The Year of The Fire Horse\u2026\u201d they wrote on Instagram. The post came alongside a photo of a recording studio\u00a0and white board chart that\u00a0appears to show\u00a0the recording parts of various songs.<\/p>\n Check out the post here:<\/p>\n It comes just weeks after\u00a0frontman\u00a0Yannis Philippakis<\/a>\u00a0spoke about the possibility of a new record, telling\u00a0Rolling Stone UK<\/i><\/a>\u00a0in December: \u201cI\u2019m\u00a0thinking about a Foals record, for sure. We just took a holiday together in Iceland and we were chatting about a record, so I reckon next year, keep your eyes peeled.\u201d<\/p>\n Back in 2024,\u00a0Philippakis told\u00a0NME\u00a0<\/i>that the band\u2019s next album \u201ccould be the best Foals record yet\u201d<\/a>.\u00a0He said at the time\u00a0that the band \u201creally want to have some time at home and apart to individually get replenished and be inspired \u2013 not make one out of\u00a0a knee-jerk\u00a0sense of obligation.
