Gwyneth Paltrow<\/strong><\/a> is setting the record straight on whether she uses her Oscar as a doorstop.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat was just for a stupid Vogue<\/em> video,\u201d Paltrow, 53, recently said on Entertainment Weekly<\/em><\/a>\u2018s \u201cThe Awardist\u201d podcast. \u201cThey\u2019re like, \u2018Wouldn\u2019t it be fun to use your Oscar as a doorstop?\u2019 And then of course, as you know [it became legend].\u201d<\/p>\n

Paltrow took home the coveted award in 1999 for her work as Viola De Lesseps in Shakespeare in Love<\/em>, a win she explained has left her with complicated feelings.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it was weird, because it was such a huge and pivotal moment, and it\u2019s one of those things where you are kind of like this person that people are excited about and are building up,\u201d she explained. \u201cAnd then, in one fell swoop, it\u2019s too much. You\u2019re not an underdog anymore\u2026. The tenor changed. It was just a lot to hold as a 26-year-old.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAmid a strange awards season, one thing has remained the same: a few deserving celebrities have ended their glammed-up evenings with a shiny new talking piece to display on their mantle. Or \u2026 somewhere else! When it comes to storing their awards, celebrities have been known to choose some interesting spots for safekeeping. While many [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In 2023, Paltrow made headlines when she filmed a Vogue<\/em> 73 Questions interview and propped open a door in her garden with the award.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat a beautiful Academy Award,\u201d interviewer Joe Sabia<\/strong> said in the video, while Paltrow replied, \u201cMy doorstop. It works perfectly!\u201d<\/p>\n

In reality, however, Paltrow shared on the podcast that she keeps the award on a bookshelf \u201chiding behind a door\u201d \u2014 but has recently moved it to \u201ca bookshelf with other stuff on it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think I had, I don\u2019t know. \u2026 I think I had a bit of healing to do, in terms of how I held that and everything that happened and happened after it,\u201d she said. \u201cIt was a lot to metabolize. And so it took me, I guess 25 years to be like, \u2018OK, I\u2019m ready to put this on the bookshelf.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Paltrow explained that it took her years to be able to watch herself in the film, until a pivotal moment with husband Brad Falchuk<\/strong>. (Paltrow and Falchuk tied the knot<\/a> in 2018.)<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s funny because my husband was actually watching it maybe six months ago on TV. It was just on, and I came in and I was like \u2026 I\u2019m always like, \u2018Oh God, change it,\u2019\u201d she recalled, before reflecting, \u201cI was so young and I looked so different.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cIt was the first time I was actually able to watch it in a long time. I didn\u2019t watch the whole movie, but I watched a couple of scenes and I was like, \u2018You know what? This stands the test of time. I\u2019m really proud of my work. I\u2019m really proud of this film. It\u2019s a perfect screenplay \u2026 I don\u2019t know. It was just kind of like a nice moment.\u201d<\/p>\n
