Evangeline Lilly<\/a> says she has brain damage after fainting and falling on a boulder at a beach in Hawaii last year. <\/p>\n The \u201cAnt-Man and the Wasp<\/a>\u201d star kicked off 2026 by sharing an update about her concussion on Instagram<\/a>. In a video posted Friday, Lilly said that \u201calmost every area in [her] brain is functioning at a decreased capacity\u201d since she \u201csmashed [her] face open.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m entering into this new year, the Year of the Horse, with some bad news about my concussion,\u201d the \u201cLost<\/a>\u201d alum said. \u201cA lot of you asked how I\u2019m doing. A lot of you have inquired about the brain scans that you heard I got. And the results came back from the scans and [showed] I do have brain damage from the [traumatic brain injury] and possibly other factors going on.\u201d<\/p>\n Lilly, who played second-gen superhero Hope van Dyne<\/a> in multiple installments of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, shared in a Substack post<\/a> in May saying that she had \u201cfainted at the beach\u201d and \u201cfell face first into a boulder.\u201d She also said she has a history of blacking out and that doctors have been unable to determine why. <\/p>\n In the caption of the video update, the 46-year-old wrote that it is \u201ccomforting to know [her] cognitive decline isn\u2019t just peri-menopause\u201d but that it\u2019s \u201cdiscomforting to know what an uphill battle it will be to try to reverse the deficiencies.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cNow my job is to get to the bottom of that with the doctors and then embark on the hard work of fixing it, which I don\u2019t look forward to, because I feel like hard work is all I do,\u201d Lilly said in the video. \u201cI\u2019m feeling extraordinarily grateful and blessed to be able to play one more day, one more year, on this beautiful living planet … Thank you all for caring.\u201d <\/p>\n Lilly\u2019s onscreen mom and \u201cAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania<\/a>\u201d co-star Michelle Pfeiffer sent her support in the Instagram post\u2019s comments. <\/p>\n \u201cYou are a warrior. Nothing-not even this will defeat you my friend,\u201d Pfeiffer wrote. Actors David Dastmalchian and Alyssa Milano were also among the Instagram well-wishers. <\/p>\n Lilly, who portrayed resourceful plane crash survivor Kate Austen for all six seasons of \u201cLost\u201d as well as Elven archer Tauriel in two<\/a> installments<\/a> of Peter Jackson\u2019s \u201cHobbit\u201d trilogy, announced<\/a> in 2024 that she was taking an \u201cindefinite hiatus\u201d from acting. <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
