The Cribs<\/a> have shared a new single, \u2018Never The Same\u2019, which was originally written for Louis Tomlinson<\/a>. Listen below.<\/p>\n The song is the latest preview of the Wakefield trio\u2019s ninth studio album \u2018Selling A Vibe\u2019<\/a>, set for release this Friday (January 9). Pre-order\/pre-save here<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201c\u2018Never The Same\u2019 is kind of a throwback to our original approach: trim all the fat, bring it in as short as possible and keep out of the way\u2026 streamlined, stylish,\u201d explained singer\/guitarist Ryan Jarman.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s almost a little paradoxical as lyrically it\u2019s about feeling like a different person at this point in life, and missing the chaos of your previous existence, even if it wouldn\u2019t make sense anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n Singer\/bassist Gary Jarman added: \u201cWe wrote \u2018Never The Same\u2019 the evening that we returned home from Italy, after playing Louis Tomlinson\u2019s Away From Home festival<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cThe night before, we had been talking with Louis\u2019 manager about maybe writing and\/or producing some tracks for his next LP, so upon our return to Wakefield we got to work and banged this out, fully formed, in a couple of hours.\u201d<\/p>\n However, the band ended up getting \u201cattached\u201d to the song and ultimately \u201cdecided to keep it for ourselves\u201d.<\/p>\n Gary went on: \u201cI think that the freedom of conceiving it for someone else just meant that we didn\u2019t overthink anything, and just got straight to the point \u2013 it came together fast. So yeah, in an alternate timeline it could\u2019ve been a Louis song.\u201d<\/p>\n
