Mickey Rourke<\/strong><\/a> is denying any involvement in setting up the GoFundMe page that was allegedly created to help him avoid eviction.<\/p>\n

\u201cSomething\u2019s come up that I\u2019m really frustrated, confused and I don\u2019t understand,\u201d the actor, 73, began in a lengthy Instagram video<\/a> shared on Monday, January 5. \u201cSomebody set up some kind of foundation or fund for me to donate money, like charity. And that\u2019s not me, OK? If I needed money, I wouldn\u2019t ask for no f***ing charity. I\u2019d rather stick a gun up my ass and pull the trigger.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rourke added that he isn\u2019t sure who set up the crowdfunding page<\/a>, which appeared online earlier this month and has raised more than $102,000 so far.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhoever did this \u2026 I don\u2019t know why they did it. I don\u2019t understand it,\u201d he said. \u201cI wouldn\u2019t know what a GoFund foundation is in a million years. My life is very simple. I don\u2019t go to outside sources like that. Yeah, it is embarrassing, but I\u2019m sure I\u2019ll get over it like everything else.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tUPDATE \u2014 1\/5\/26, 5:05 p.m. ET: Mickey Rourke\u2019s alleged GoFundMe page has raised more than $82,000 one day after news broke on Sunday, January 4, that he was in need of financial help to pay off a \u201c$59,100\u201d rental bill. As of Monday, January 5, the fundraising page, which was reportedly set up by the [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The Wrestler<\/em> actor went on to admit that he\u2019s \u201cdone a really terrible job\u201d managing his Hollywood career, which waned in the 1990s as he pursued boxing.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wasn\u2019t very diplomatic. I had to go over 20 years of therapy to get over the damage that was done to me years ago,\u201d Rourke said on Monday. \u201cI worked very hard to work through that and I\u2019m not that person anymore, but I can\u2019t be the one to say that \u2014 you gotta talk to the last several people I\u2019ve worked with. Talk to Robert Rodriguez<\/strong>, talk to Francis [Ford] Coppola<\/strong>, talk to Darren Aronofsky<\/strong>. I\u2019m not that wild man that I was 20-something years ago, but you pay the price for your past.\u201d<\/p>\n

After saying that he plans to talk to his lawyer about what to do, Rourke urged fans to stop donating and advised those who had to ask for refunds. He also revealed that he borrowed money from a friend in the recent past after \u201cCOVID and the writers\u2019 strike killed\u201d his funds.<\/p>\n

As for the allegation that he is behind in rent, Rourke claimed that he intentionally stopped paying rent because his landlords weren\u2019t making repairs on the property.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverything was good for five or six years, and then two scumbags from New York bought the house and they wouldn\u2019t fix anything, so I said, \u2018I\u2019m not paying rent,\u2019 because there\u2019s mice, there\u2019s rats, the floor is rotten, one bathtub there\u2019s no water, in two different sinks there was no water,\u201d Rourke alleged. \u201cBut I would never ask strangers or fans or anybody for a nickel. I mean, that\u2019s not my style. It\u2019s humiliating and it\u2019s really f***ing embarrassing.\u201d<\/p>\n

His legal team is currently pursuing the matter,\u201d Rourke\u2019s rep, Kimberly Hines, claimed in a statement to Us Weekly. \u201cTo use his name and image in this way, [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The Sin City<\/em> star concluded by saying he\u2019s \u201cgrateful\u201d for what he does have.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have a roof over my head, I\u2019ve got food to eat. Here, look, I got bananas,\u201d he said with a laugh, grabbing some fruit from out of frame. \u201cEverything\u2019s OK. Just get your money back, please. I don\u2019t need anybody\u2019s money and I wouldn\u2019t do it this way. I got too much pride, man. It ain\u2019t my style.\u201d<\/p>\n

The GoFundMe page initially made headlines this weekend when The Hollywood Reporter<\/em> published an article on Sunday, January 4, alleging that the page was created by Liya Joelle-Jones<\/strong>, who was described as a \u201cfriend and member of Rourke\u2019s management team.\u201d<\/p>\n

In an interview, Joelle-Jones told the outlet that \u201cMickey is going through a very difficult time right now, and it\u2019s been incredibly touching to see how many people care about him and want to help.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the GoFundMe page\u2019s description, the fundraiser was \u201ccreated with Mickey\u2019s full permission to help cover immediate housing-related expenses and prevent [eviction] from happening.\u201d<\/p>\n
