The state of Kansas is no longer interested in luring the Kansas City Royals away from Missouri, a Topeka television station is reporting.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kansas House Speaker Dan Hawkins \u201cconfirmed with us that Kansas officials will no longer be pursuing the Royals,\u201d reports KSNT.<\/span><\/p>\n

Although Kansas in 2024 offered both the Royals and Kansas City Chiefs new stadium financing through the state\u2019s Sales Tax and Revenue STAR bonds program, the Chiefs have <\/span>tentatively agreed<\/span><\/a> to the offer while the Royals let the Dec. 31 deadline pass.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHouse Speaker Hawkins tells us the legislature does not intend on extending that offer,\u201d KSNT <\/span>reported<\/span><\/a>. \u201c\u2019We put an end to it on December 31st,\u2019\u201d Hawkins told the outlet. \u201c\u2019Believe me, I was not kidding when I said that.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The Chiefs <\/span>announced<\/span><\/a> their decision Dec. 22 to move to an undisclosed location on the Kansas side by 2031 to a $3 billion domed stadium.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
