Online<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n Nikki Glaser<\/a> won\u2019t be roasting this pretty woman at the <\/span>Golden Globes<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n When the comedian takes the stage Jan. 11 to host the 2026 awards show, she knows that audiences want her to go easy on <\/span>Julia Roberts<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m trying out my monologue around L.A., at the clubs here, and just even any joke about Julia Roberts, they are not there for,\u201d Glaser told <\/span>Gayle King on <\/span>CBS Mornings<\/span><\/a> Jan. 6. \u201cYou cannot make fun of America\u2019s Sweetheart. So, whatever I end up saying about her, that is the most fine-tuned joke that I\u2019ve worked on so hard, because it is very delicate.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n The 41-year-old added, \u201cThey were booing, and I was like, \u2018Is she here?\u2019 It\u2019s insane.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n But Glaser<\/span><\/span> \u2014who shot to fame after her viral turn on “The Roast of Tom Brady” in 2024 \u2014 explained her jokes will be more \u201ccovert\u201d going into her second year of hosting the Globes, because \u201chuge A-listers\u201d like Julia, <\/span>Leonardo DiCaprio and <\/span>Sean Penn <\/span>are nominated<\/span><\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n READ: <\/b>Why Cynthia Erivo Is Missing the 2026 Golden Globes<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cI am a huge fan of these people,\u201d she shared. \u201cIt\u2019s easy for me to take down the newer batch of actresses and actors who are younger than me. It’s like, \u2018OK, I can make fun of you. I’m like a veteran.\u2019 But when it’s people that I grew up admiring, it’s a different approach this year.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cYou have to be very delicate about making jokes that aren’t going to ruin anyone’s night,\u201d she continued. \u201cBut you also want to give the people at home something to laugh at, and you want to poke fun at the people that they’re dying for you to make fun of. People at home want you to make fun of the A-listers.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n When it comes to the more brutal jokes in her monologue, Glaser<\/span> sometimes tries running it by the recipient ahead of time. In fact, she texted <\/span>Selena Gomez<\/a>\u2019s now-husband <\/span>Benny Blanco last year for approval on <\/span>her quip<\/span><\/a> about him being with the “Only Murders in the Building” actress \u201cbecause of the genie who granted him that wish.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n This year, though, she\u2019s leaning away from that approach.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI don’t even know if Leo has a phone,\u201d Glaser<\/span><\/span> joked. \u201cThere’s certain people that I don’t even know what I would say. Some of these jokes you think about, \u2018OK, if I got their number, would I write them and ask them?\u2019 And then I go, \u2018You know what, they might say no, and I know the joke isn’t that mean.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
