Seth Meyers<\/a> on Monday said the real reason behind the Trump<\/a> administration\u2019s attack on Venezuela \u2013 and the seizure of President Nicol\u00e1s Maduro<\/a> and his wife, Cilia Flores, by force in the middle of the night \u2013 remains a mystery.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cDamn it, I just wish there were clues!\u201d joked Meyers after highlighting how U.S. President Donald Trump<\/a> and members of his Cabinet have repeatedly talked about the South American country\u2019s oil reserves.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Meyers said it was amazing how Trump \u201cjust undercuts everyone around him and confesses the truth\u201d by throwing his MAGA allies under the bus due to his fixation on Venezuelan oil<\/a>. The \u201cLate Night\u201d host then referred to his history of using \u201cA Closer Look\u201d segments to \u201cset up a long video montage of Trump contradicting himself by insisting, during his various campaigns, that he was against foreign wars and regime changes.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cBut I made a New Year\u2019s resolution \u2014 and that resolution was to never change, baby! Roll the hypocrisy package!\u201d Meyers declared.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Meyers also blasted those who believed Trump was telling the truth about being \u201canti-war.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cYou really thought Donald Trump, the most thin-skinned, impulsive man on the planet, would suddenly discover the concept of restraint once he gained control of the world\u2019s most powerful military?\u201d Meyers asked. \u201cGiving Donald Trump control of the U.S. military is like giving the cast of \u2018Real Housewives\u2019 an open bar and a \u2018One Free Slap\u2019 coupon. There\u2019s going to be a lot of fighting, a lot of crying and a lot of really bad dancing.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
