A royal commentator has predicted Prince Harry and the Royal Family may be in the early stages of reconciliation, after the duke reportedly won his lengthy fight for security protection when visiting the UK.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The Duke of Sussex, 41, has been in a high-profile legal battle with the Home Office since he lost his right to taxpayer-funded security when he and his wife, Meghan Markle, quit their royal duties and relocated to the US.<\/p>\n

Harry argued that without police protection, he and his family are not safe to visit his home country<\/a>, making it \u201cimpossible\u201d for him to bring Meghan and his children to visit his family.<\/p>\n

In May 2025, Harry suffered a crushing blow when he lost a court of appeal challenge<\/a> to reinstate his security. In an interview afterwards, the prince blamed a \u201cgood old-fashioned establishment stitch-up\u201d.<\/p>\n

But, according to new reports, a Home Office review has determined Harry does meet the threshold for automatic armed police protection, and his security will be reinstated.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s now a formality. Sources at the Home Office have indicated that security is now nailed on for Harry,\u201d a source claimed to the Mail on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams has suggested that this is the major step that could finally mark Harry\u2019s reunion with his family.<\/p>\n

\u201c[Harry] wants to be over more often, he has made that clear. In what capacity, is less clear,\u201d Fitzwilliams told GB News.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe might come to visit friends, to visit the Spencers. So this could mark the beginning of a rapprochement.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe implication was that the security reason was the main reason for them staying away from Britain.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Home Office\u2019s U-turn could pave the way for King Charles to see his grandchildren for the first time since February 2022.<\/p>\n

Archie, six, and Lilibet, four, last visited the UK during Queen Elizabeth II\u2019s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.<\/p>\n

The last time Meghan, 44, set foot on British soil was for the Queen\u2019s funeral in September that year.<\/p>\n

Despite Harry\u2019s reported security win, there remains a question mark over whether Meghan will join him on visits to the UK, with one royal expert citing that she is unpopular with the British public<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cAny visit by Meghan would need to be carefully curated and monitored. She may not be in the same physical danger, but she\u2019s more likely to be the target of a verbal backlash than Harry, who still has a way of endearing himself to the crowds,\u201d Jennie Bond wrote for the i Newspaper.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf I were her, I\u2019d give the UK a miss. She\u2019s clearly happy at home in California. Why wouldn\u2019t she be? She\u2019s free, she\u2019s wealthy, she has a husband who adores her and children she loves. Why court hostility over here?<\/p>\n

\u201cHarry and the kids can pop over and see Grandpa. Archie and Lilibet can take a peek inside the Palace walls their ancestors have inhabited. And then they can all head back to the sunshine,\u201d Bond added.<\/p>\n

The Sussexes’ spokesperson has declined to comment on \u201csecurity matters\u201d.<\/p>\n

A Home Office spokesperson said: \u201cThe UK government\u2019s protective security system is rigorous and proportionate.<\/p>\n

“It is our long-standing policy not to provide detailed information on those arrangements, as doing so could compromise their integrity and affect individuals\u2019 security.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
