The 2026 Critics Choice Awards<\/a> were a star-studded affair, but some nominees missed out on all the fun.<\/p>\n

Awards season officially started on Sunday, January 4, with\u00a0Chelsea Handler<\/strong> hosting the Critics Choice Awards for the fourth year in a row. Held at the Barker Hanger in Santa Monica, California, Hollywood\u2019s biggest stars rubbed elbows as this year\u2019s first round of awards were handed out.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou guys are all going to be spending the next three months together,\u201d Handler, 50, told the crowd in her opening monologue<\/a>. \u201cSo, whoever wins tonight, get used to seeing them win.\u201d<\/p>\n

Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet<\/strong>, Jacob Elordi<\/strong>, Noah Wyle<\/strong>, Seth Rogen<\/strong> and Jessie Buckley<\/strong> won some of the night\u2019s biggest individual awards, while Frankenstein<\/a> and Adolescence<\/a> came out on top with the most wins for film and TV, respectively.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe 2026 Critics Choice Awards are officially kicked off another awards season on Sunday, January 4. Chelsea Handler returned as Critics Choice Awards host for the fourth year in a row, noting in a November 2025 statement, \u201cKicking off the year with the Critics Choice Awards feels right \u2014 nothing says \u2018new beginnings\u2019 like a [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Along with Elordi\u2019s Best Supporting Actor trophy for Frankenstein, the Netflix thriller also took home Best Costume Design, Best Production Design and Best Hair and Makeup.<\/p>\n

Adolescence, meanwhile, swept nearly all the categories for a limited series. Another Netflix hit, the four-episode show took home Best Limited Series, Best Actor in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television for Stephen Graham<\/strong>, Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television for Owen Cooper<\/strong> and Best Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television for Erin Doherty<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you to the critics and to everyone behind the scenes who made this night possible,\u201d Cooper, 16, told the crowd<\/a>, becoming the youngest actor to win a Critics Choice trophy. \u201cThis past year has been a complete whirlwind for me and my family, honestly. It\u2019s changed our lives forever.\u201d<\/p>\n

Some A-listers like Leonardo DiCaprio<\/strong> and Michael B. Jordan<\/strong> were shown in the crowd throughout the night but didn\u2019t take home any wins. Other stars skipped out on the ceremony entirely.<\/p>\n

George Clooney<\/h2>\n

Clooney\u2019s movie Jay Kelly was up for several Critics Choice Awards, but the actor was not present. His costar Adam Sandler<\/strong> represented the film<\/a> instead.<\/p>\n

Pamela Anderson<\/h2>\n

While the actress wasn\u2019t nominated for any solo awards, her movie The Naked Gun took home Best Comedy. She was not spotted at the ceremony.<\/p>\n

Liam Neeson<\/h2>\n

Fans were hoping for a reunion between Anderson and her Naked Gun costar on Sunday, but they both skipped the show.<\/a><\/p>\n

Emma Stone<\/h2>\n

Despite her nomination for Bugonia, the actress was not at Sunday\u2019s awards ceremony.<\/p>\n

Sean Penn<\/h2>\n

Penn appeared in One Battle After Another, which took home Best Picture<\/a>, but he did not attend the Critics Choice Awards with costars DiCaprio, Benicio del Toro<\/strong> and Teyana Taylor<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Paltrow was noticeably absent from the awards ceremony, despite her Marty Supreme costar Chalamet taking home the Best Actor award.<\/p>\n

Cynthia Erivo<\/h2>\n

Some Wicked: For Good stars were in attendance, but Erivo \u2014 who was not nominated \u2014 missed out on the ceremony.<\/p>\n

Allison Janney<\/h2>\n

The actress received a nomination for her role on Netflix\u2019s The Diplomat but wasn\u2019t in the crowd during the Critics Choice Awards.<\/p>\n

Billy Bob Thornton<\/h2>\n

Most of Thornton\u2019s Landman<\/a> costars did attend the ceremony, but he skipped out on the awards show despite his nomination.<\/p>\n

Billy Crudup<\/h2>\n

Crudup is usually a favorite to win for his role on The Morning Show<\/a>, but the actor didn\u2019t attend Sunday\u2019s awards.<\/p>\n

Ren\u00e9e Zellweger<\/h2>\n

Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy won in the Best Movie Made for Television category, but the actress was not there to celebrate the accomplishment.<\/p>\n

Greta Lee<\/h2>\n

Similar to her The Morning Show costar Crudup, Lee also missed out on Sunday\u2019s awards ceremony despite her nomination.<\/p>\n
