Smiths<\/a> fans of the world, unite \u2013 Bigmouth is about to strike again. Morrissey<\/a> will release his first new single for four years, Make-Up Is a Lie<\/em>, on Friday. The single will be followed in February by a new album of the same name (or You\u2019re Right, It\u2019s Time<\/em>, according to earlier reports). Songs on the album include Notre-Dame<\/em>, about the fire that almost destroyed Notre-Dame cathedral, and The Night Pop Dropped<\/em>, a seeming tribute to one of Morrissey\u2019s musical heroes, Iggy Pop.<\/p>\n The album has been produced by Morrissey\u2019s long-term producer Joe Chiccarelli, who has won Grammy awards for his work with the White Stripes and Michael Bubl\u00e9, among others. Musically, going by the snippets I\u2019ve heard, the album features flashes of funky, Doors-like synths (The Night Pop Dropped<\/em>) and stripped back, glitchy trip-hoppy backbeats (Make-Up Is a Lie<\/em>).<\/p>\n The album also features a cover version of Roxy Music\u2019s 1973 song Amazona<\/em>. Last June, Morrissey told Polish magazine Teraz Rock that he\u2019d sent his version to Roxy guitarist Phil Manzanera, who had called it \u201cphenomenal\u201d. Morrissey declared himself \u201cthrilled\u201d with the album as a whole. \u201cIt\u2019s breathtaking from start to finish,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Other song titles include The Monsters of Pig Alley<\/em>, Lester Bangs<\/em>, Zoom Zoom the Little Boy <\/em>and You\u2019re Right, It\u2019s Time.<\/em> Lyrically, Notre-Dame<\/em> could prove controversial. In it, referencing the building, Morrissey sings that \u201cwe know who tried to kill you\u201d, before pointedly declaring: \u201cBefore investigations they said, \u2018This is not terrorism\u2019\u201d.
