Maybe it&#8217;s just me, but that album already feels like it&#8217;s 52 years old. In any case, Big Thief guitarist Buck Meek just announced his new solo LP <em>The Mirror<\/em>, and if you&#8217;re not into that, you must be a Buck Freak.<\/p>\n<p>Like all of his Big Thief bandmates, Buck Meek puts out occasional solo records. His most recent album was 2023&#8217;s <em><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/stereogum.com\/2224746\/buck-meek-haunted-mountain\/music\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Haunted Mountain<\/a><\/em>. Big Thief drummer James Krivchenia produced Meek&#8217;s upcoming record <em>The Mirror<\/em>, and Adrianne Lenker sings backup, so this one is a full Big Thief family affair. It&#8217;s also got more modular synth action than past Meek joints, as well as contributions from peers like Mary Lattimore, Jolie Holland, and Meek&#8217;s brother Dylan.<\/p>\n<p>Lead single and album opener &#8220;Gasoline&#8221; is a playfully awestruck ramble about falling in love, and you can really get lost in those Adrianne Lenker backup vocals.
