\u201cMarty Supreme\u201d director Josh Safdie<\/a> shed light on star Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet\u2019s<\/a> decision to get violently spanked on his bare behind for one of the film\u2019s most outrageous moments.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n At the New York Film Critics Circle Awards on Tuesday night, Safdie told The Associated Press<\/a> that he \u201cnever got the sense\u201d Chalamet \u201cdidn\u2019t want to be spanked\u201d during their extensive conversations about the script.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Even so, the \u201cUncut Gems\u201d director thought it made sense to have a \u201cbutt double\u201d on hand for the scene, where Chalamet\u2019s audacious Ping-Pong prodigy Marty Mauser agrees to be humiliated in exchange for a final swing at his table tennis dreams.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
