Sole Survivors lecture in Bay City<\/b><\/p>\n
A museum is hosting a lecture focusing on Great Lakes maritime history and remarkable survival stories.<\/p>\n
The Second Saturday event will feature Ric Mixter presenting \u201cSole Survivor,\u201d a lecture covering the Daniel J. Morrell, which was built in Lake Superior, and Dennis Hale\u2019s survival. The presentation will also include information about the newly discovered Western Reserve in Lake Superior, whose wheelman later became a famous captain on the lakes.<\/p>\n

Find out more about the event here.<\/a> <\/p>\n Free vision board event to set 2026 goals in Flint<\/b><\/p>\n Flint residents can start the new year with intention and creativity at a free Community Vision Board Party hosted by Communities First, Inc. on Jan. 9.<\/p>\n The event runs from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Coolidge Park Apartments gymnasium, located at 3701 Van Buren Ave. Attendees will create vision boards to visualize their goals for 2026 in a supportive, community-focused setting.<\/p>\n Chase for Business partially sponsors the gathering, which provides all materials for guided vision board creation. The evening includes light refreshments, music, and opportunities for neighbors to connect and share their aspirations for the coming year.<\/p>\n The family-friendly event welcomes all ages, though children must attend with a parent or guardian. While admission is free, organizers request that attendees pre-register.<\/p>\n Find out more information here.<\/a> <\/p>\n Fraternity hosts 11th annual bowling event to collect winter gear for Saginaw children<\/b><\/p>\n Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. Zeta Gamma Sigma Chapter will host its 11th annual Hat, Coat, and Glove Bowling Kickback at Stardust from 3-5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, aiming to collect winter gear for children in the Saginaw area.<\/p>\n Last year\u2019s event provided more than 200 hats, coats, or gloves to local children. This year, organizers hope to double that number by collecting 400 items.<\/p>\n The event accepts new or gently used coats, gloves, and hats. Attendees can bring donations to the bowling event or send contributions even if they cannot attend. The chapter also offers to pick up donations from those who prefer that option.<\/p>\n Tickets are available through CashApp or by contacting any chapter member.<\/p>\n
