Jim McBride, who penned several country music<\/a> hits such as \u201cChattahoochee\u201d and \u201cChasing That Neon Rainbow,\u201d has died. He was 78.<\/p>\n The Huntsville, Alabama native died on Jan. 6, WAFF reported<\/a>. A cause of death was not revealed.<\/p>\n McBride\u2019s songs were recorded by country music giants including Johnny Cash, George Jones, Reba McEntire, Willie Nelson, Charley Pride, Kris Kristofferson, Randy Travis<\/a>, Brenda Lee, Jerry Lee Lewis, Toby Keith and more.<\/p>\n However, McBride\u2019s most successful singles were recorded by Alan Jackson<\/a>. After meeting in the early 1990s, the duo collaborated on the hits \u201cChasing That Neon Rainbow,\u201d \u201c(Who Says) You Can\u2019t Have It All,\u201d \u201cSomeday\u201d and \u201cChattahoochee.\u201d <\/p>\n The latter song topped the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart for four weeks and won CMA Awards for Single and Song of the Year in 1993 and 1994, respectively. \u201cChattahoochee\u201d has since been certified three-times platinum by the RIAA<\/a>. <\/p>\n Jackson honored his late friend and collaborator in an emotional post on Instagram<\/a> Thursday.<\/p>\n \u201cJim was a good man and a great and genuine songwriter. He understood country music and touched many with his songs,\u201d Jackson wrote. \u201cJim and I wrote some of my favorite songs together and I don\u2019t know if my career would have ended up quite the same without his help, inspiration, and encouragement in my early years. Thank you Jim, rest in peace.\u201d <\/p>\n McBridge also co-wrote the top 10 singles \u201cAngels In Waiting\u201d by Tammy Cochran and \u201cWhat I Meant To Say\u201d by Wade Hayes.<\/p>\n \u201cJim was one of the finest men I ever met,\u201d Hayes wrote on Facebook<\/a> on Wednesday. \u201cThis is a tough loss. Rest in peace my friend.\u201d<\/p>\n
