Sydney Sweeney<\/strong> is gearing up to return with the sequel to The Housemaid<\/strong>. The first chapter starring Amanda Seyfried and Michael Morrone became a commercial success, earning $135 million worldwide. Now, the film will be rolling out its second part, following Freida McFadden\u2019s novel once again.<\/p>\n

Sydney Sweeney to return for The Housemaid 2<\/h2>\n

Lionsgate has confirmed Sydney Sweeney\u2019s The Housemaid 2. On Tuesday, the distributor announced that the sequel has been greenlit, and it will follow McFadden\u2019s novel, The Housemaid\u2019s Secret. For the unaware, it is the second installment in the author\u2019s Housemaid book franchise. Filming for the next chapter is also scheduled to begin this year.<\/p>\n

Sweeney and Morrone will return to reprise their roles as Millie and Enzo, respectively. Moreover, Paul Feig is expected to take the director\u2019s chair once again. Feig opened up on the film\u2019s success, stating<\/a>, \u201cIt\u2019s been thrilling to see audiences around the world fall in love with The Housemaid and the incredible work of our talented cast and crew.\u201d He further added, \u201cWe\u2019re lucky that Freida McFadden has already extended Millie\u2019s journey on the page, and that we get to work with [screenwriter] Rebecca Sonnenshine and Lionsgate to bring this next story to audiences.\u201d<\/p>\n

Previously, Sweeney had showered praise on the source novel. The \u201cEuphoria\u201d star told Variety<\/a>, \u201cI was juicy, it was delicious.\u201d She continued, \u201cI could not put the book down. I remember I opened it, and you know when you\u2019re like.\u201d The 28-year-old actress also explained, \u201cI did not move from my seat the moment I opened it until I finished. It was just so good.\u201d \u201cThe characters, the twists, the turns, all of it, so I knew I really wanted to be a part of, \u201d she added. <\/p>\n

Additionally, the leading lady hoped for a sequel, saying, \u201cWe want to be able to give the people what they want. This is such an amazing community of book lovers, and we would love to do another film.\u201d<\/p>\n
