Believe it or not, it\u2019s been five years since Olivia Rodrigo<\/a> dropped \u201cdrivers license<\/a>\u201d and became the world\u2019s biggest pop star overnight. Now, she\u2019s celebrating the occasion with a little help from her friends.<\/p>\n To mark the song\u2019s five-year anniversary on Jan. 8, Rodrigo<\/a> announced a new Sour<\/a><\/em> cover series in which she has recruited some of her \u201cfavorite artists ever\u201d to rework various tracks from her debut album. With the announcement came the first cover in the series: a reimagining of \u201cdrivers license\u201d by David Byrne. <\/p>\n \u201cHappy five years of \u2018drivers license!\u2019\u201d Rodrigo wrote in a fan newsletter. \u201cThis song has completely changed my life in the most magical ways possible. I\u2019ve loved screaming \u2018RED LIGHTS STOP SIGNS\u2019 with y\u2019all at every show over the last five years and I can\u2019t wait to do it for many, many more years to come!\u201d She calls Byrne one of her \u201call-time heroes\u201d in the post, which she emphasized with three exclamation points (a potential album Easter egg?). <\/p>\n Byrne\u2019s version of \u201cdrivers license,\u201d out now, is just as explosive, quirky, and whimsical as you\u2019d expect.
