It\u2019s upsetting on a consistent basis. But what am I supposed to do?.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re not in high school anymore. We don\u2019t need to continue this kind of behavior. We\u2019re all grown women.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Age and maturity, however, seem to have little effect on the functions of this hyper-exclusive, one-false-move-and-you\u2019re-out mommy mob \u2014\u00a0and others like it in NYC and around the region.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Actress Ashley Tisdale, a mother to two small girls, recently <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/01\/07\/opinion\/ashley-tisdale-and-her-mom-group-scandal-are-a-c-list-nightmare\/\">blew the lid off<\/a> of \u201ctoxic\u201d mom group culture, detailing the mental and emotional damages that come with being a sudden social outcast.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Tisdale (far left) claims she often found herself shut out of group gatherings in the weeks leading up to her mom group departure.   <span class=\"credit\">Ashley Tisdale\/Instagram<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWhy me?,\u201d Tisdale, 40, of \u201cHigh School Musical\u201d fame, wondered in her January 1 essay<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thecut.com\/article\/ashley-tisdale-french-mom-group-mean-girls-parenting.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> <\/a>for<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thecut.com\/article\/ashley-tisdale-french-mom-group-mean-girls-parenting.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> The Cut<\/a>. In the explosive expos\u00e9, the former Disney channel star recounted her slow, yet unmistakable excommunication from the VIP pack, which included the A-list likes of Mandy Moore and Hilary Duff.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMaybe I\u2019m not cool enough?,\u201d Tisdale wrote. \u201cAll of a sudden, I was in high school again, feeling totally lost as to what I was doing \u2018wrong\u2019 to be left out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Anaya\u2019s found herself in a similar state of confusion over the years, she said \u2014\u00a0though with plenty of time for reflection, she\u2019s identified a few potential missteps that may have rubbed others the wrong way.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Tisdale sent shockwaves through Hollywood, as well as social media, after unveiling the ugly truths of mom groups.  <span class=\"credit\">ashleytisdalefrench\/Instagram<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Along with her aversion to hobnobbing in the Hamptons, the Brooklyn native refuses to send her boys, both age 11, to the ritzy sleep-away camp all the other mothers ship their kids off to each summer \u2014\u00a0preferring to spend the hot months exposing her brood to the wonders and cultures of other countries.<\/p>\n<p>Anaya also lets her boys enjoy screen time and technology, apparently a major sin among members of the inner circle. Her permissive parenting \u2014 and slack attention to text messaging detail \u2014 recently landed her in big trouble.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBefore I was completely out of the group chat, all the moms were talking about being anti-tech,\u201d Anaya remembered. \u201cI was getting annoyed, and I meant to text my friend (who did not belong to this mom group), \u2018Oh my god, these people are so old [school].\u2019 But I accidentally texted that message to the group.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Anaya admits to The Post that she\u2019s made some mistakes, but still finds it \u201cupsetting\u201d and \u201churtful\u201d to be excluded from the mom group fun. <span class=\"credit\">Emmy Park For NY Post<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>That split-second faux pas appeared to have fueled the gaggle\u2019s resolve to ice her out, permanently.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, Anaya\u2019s children have also felt the frosty sting of the collective\u2019s cold shoulder.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy kids have been alienated,\u201d she said. \u201cThe moms host play dates, parties and sleepovers, but my kids aren\u2019t invited because we\u2019re not friends.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s heartbreaking.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>These days, Anaya said she\u2019s focused on building a more welcoming village for herself and her boys.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve reconnected with friends who have kids around my boys\u2019 age, I\u2019ve made friends with parents on the kids\u2019 sporting teams and we have our international friends,\u201d said Anaya. \u201cSo we\u2019re good without the cliquey toxicity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Amber Marlow echoes similar sentiments.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Marlow says she\u2019s learned to make their own fun during times she and her kids aren\u2019t included in the mom group-sanctioned fun.  <span class=\"credit\">Courtesy Amber Marlow<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The married mother of two, who lives in New York\u2019s newly-fashionable Hudson Valley, tells The Post she\u2019s been booted out of several malicious mom groups, both online and in-person, due to her unique parenting style.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The self-proclaimed \u201c<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/09\/23\/lifestyle\/this-parenting-trend-is-becoming-more-popular-new-study-reveals\/\">strict gentle parent<\/a>\u201d \u2014 an uncommon hybrid between traditional child-rearing and new age leniency \u2014 first got a taste of the<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/12\/23\/mommy-facebook-groups-are-traumatizing-new-moms\/\"> mommy mayhem on Facebook<\/a>. In a local mom group, she openly disagreed with another mom\u2019s decision to spank her 20-month-old infant.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI very carefully worded it, saying \u2018I think that it\u2019s very inappropriate to hit a baby. It\u2019s [borderline] abusive\u2019,\u201d said Marlow, 43, a wedding photographer, adding that she was \u201cshocked\u201d and \u201chorrified\u201d by <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@marlows.house\/video\/7046993626114739503?_r=1&amp;_t=ZT-92txfwjnuR5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the use of corporal punishment<\/a>. \u201cThey kicked me out of the group for having an opinion.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-tiktok wp-block-embed-tiktok\"\/>\n<p>Sadly, the New Yorker, with a four-year-old son and six-year-old daughter, hasn\u2019t had much success with moms in-real-life either.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy family gets excluded from play dates and parties because my daughter is neurodivergent,\u201d sighed Marlow, who was left out of a \u201cSnow Day\u201d party just last month. \u201cShe processes things differently, and the other kids and moms at school don\u2019t really embrace us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBoth instances have kind of [soured me] to the whole \u2018mom group\u2019 thing.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>New Jersey parent Dominique Devizio agrees.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Devizio has been scarred by her recent experience with a vicious virtual mom group. <span class=\"credit\">@laneyg.photography<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The new mom swiftly removed herself from a local Facebook group after getting \u201cattacked\u201d by the other moms \u2014\u00a0just moments after becoming the victim of crime.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignright\">\n\t<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cAn individual stole a package that had been delivered to my house while I was out, and I caught it on camera,\u201d said Devizio, 31, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/podcasts.apple.com\/us\/podcast\/its-mom-oclock\/id1807444838\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a podcaster<\/a> and events director. \u201cI wrote to the group, \u2018Hey, has anyone seen this individual? He\u2019s in our area. I\u2019m scared. I\u2019m a stay-at-home mom and severely postpartum. I don\u2019t feel safe.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But rather than being showered with loving support, the married New Jerseyan was bulldozed with curses and epithets.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese women, these mothers, began attacking me, saying \u2018You\u2019re a racist.\u2019\u2018This is your fault.\u2019 \u2018You left your packages outside.\u2019 \u2018No one in their right mind would order this many packages at once and leave them on their front doorstep.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was nonstop.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The contentious kerfuffle left Devizio without a viable parenting community.
