Gina Carano and Disney have settled the lawsuit, funded by Elon Musk, over her firing from The Mandalorian<\/em><\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n <\/p>\n I\u2019m sure Sarah has insights into the impact but it reminded me of the last time I was at Disneyland and a guy was wearing a shirt that said, \u201cGina Carano did nothing wrong.\u201d And I thought how interesting that he paid $100+ a ticket, directly to Disney, to show off that shirt.\u00a0<\/p>\n I have come to an agreement with Disney\/Lucasfilm @disney<\/a> @Lucasfilm<\/a> which I believe is the best outcome for all parties involved. Shockingly bad \u2013 and I think HBO-whatever removed it from streaming? I agree with Sarah in that there\u2019s something about the tone of The Paper<\/em> that feels dated. (To be fair, who could have predicted the American version of The Office<\/em> would be so beloved? It was a huge risk at the time.)\u00a0<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n <\/p>\n My two cents on why The Paper<\/em> will be tricky to pull off is the type of business: Dunder Mifflin was a paper company, an industry most people hadn\u2019t heard of and didn\u2019t particularly care about. The shadow was big box stores like Staples and Office Depot (which have now been eaten up by online retailers). Dunder Mifflin was like Blockbuster or RadioShack. The issue with turning it into a newspaper and the \u201chaha this job is so futile\u201d is that newspapers dying is not inevitable, it\u2019s a cause for alarm. The job is still important, it has just been devalued by society. Newspapers are a community service in many ways, whereas Dunder Mifflin was a typical office job sealed in from the world so the employee relationships drove the storylines and the influence of the outside world was negligible, save for the occasional office lunch at Hooters.<\/p>\n <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\n <\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Renee Rapp picking up her phone to double-check she knows who Brad Pitt is\u2026 I love her.<\/p>\n <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\n <\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Jessica Biel volunteered to Parade Magazine<\/em> that she doesn\u2019t feed her kids McDonald\u2019s<\/a> and this is when we need the Whoopi Goldberg \u201cOK\u201d face gif. Badabababa.<\/p>\n <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\n <\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Tobey Maguire responded to his ex\u2019s divorce petition, asking for 50\/50 custody of their son Otis (I believe Ruby is over 18). Jennifer Meyers filed five years ago, he\u2019s responding now. People are making all kinds of assumptions about his response (I read an insta comment that said he\u2019s only interested now because his son is an older teenager??) and this is when gossip assumptions make people look foolish. They have been happily coparenting for years, are close friends and are still very integrated. The reason the paperwork is moving along is more likely due to her engagement. Having a custody arrangement papered does not mean there are issues, it can just be a peace-of-mind move.\u00a0<\/p>\n <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\n
