A source told The Sun<\/a>: \u201cPrince Harry<\/a> desperately wants Charles at Invictus \u2014 and he wants him to open the games alongside him.<\/p>\n

\u201cHarry wants it to happen both for the games, and for their relationship. It\u2019s his dream to have his father by his side.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is appropriate because Invictus is returning to the UK for the first time since 2014, and given Charles is Head of the Armed Forces.<\/p>\n

\u201cInvictus always invites Heads of State but Harry wants to go further with Charles involved in the opening ceremony. The games represent a cause close to both\u2019s hearts.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

It is believed that if the King, 77, does open the ceremony alongside his youngest son, this will be a sign that the pair have put all their past problems behind them \u2013 something that may have been the case since their last meeting in September.<\/a><\/p>\n

However, it is not yet known whether the monarch would accept such an invite, or whether he will even attend the event<\/a> next year.<\/p>\n

It is also not known whether Harry\u2019s wife Meghan Markle<\/a> will fly to Harry\u2019s home country for the event.<\/p>\n

This is because while she usually attends The Invictus Games when they take place, she has not stepped foot on UK soil since 2022<\/a>, despite her husband\u2019s frequent trips back to his home country.<\/p>\n

Instead, the duchess has always opted to stay at the couple\u2019s Montecito home in California with their children Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four, when Harry returns to the UK.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
