Danish thrash metal veterans ARTILLERY<\/b> have inked a new deal with Mighty Music<\/b>. The band is planning on releasing a new mini-album through the label in the spring. The EP was mixed last October at Medley Studio<\/b> in Copenhagen, Denmark with Benjamin H\u00f8yer<\/b>.<\/p>\n
Since returning in full force in 2008, ARTILLERY<\/b> has released six studio albums, including the band’s latest effort, 2021’s “X”<\/b>. A live album, “Raw Live (In Copenhell)”<\/b>, was recorded in 2022 and made available in February 2024 via Mighty Music<\/b>.<\/p>\n
ARTILLERY<\/b>‘s current lineup consists of guitarist and bandleader Michael St\u00fctzer<\/b> alongside IRON FIRE<\/b> vocalist Martin Steene<\/b>, bassist Peter Thorslund<\/b>, guitarist Ren\u00e9 Loua<\/b> and drummer Frederik Kjelstrup Hansen<\/b>.<\/p>\n
In a March 2024 interview with ROTR<\/a>, St\u00fctzer<\/b> stated about Steene<\/b>‘s 2023 addition to ARTILLERY<\/b>: “He can sing in a lot of different styles. We already have a new song we’re doing with him and fans are going to love it. [Previous ARTILLERY<\/b> singer] Michael<\/b> [Bastholm Dahl<\/b>] couldn’t do the U.S. tour; that’s also why Martin<\/b> was on board. Martin<\/b> was also in IRON FIRE<\/b> and FORCE OF EVIL<\/b> with Michael Denner<\/b> and Hank Shermann<\/b> from MERCYFUL FATE<\/b>. People will be really surprised with how good he’ll be.”<\/p>\n Regarding Dahl<\/b>‘s departure from ARTILLERY<\/b>, St\u00fctzer<\/b> said: “Michael<\/b> and me are still very close friends. He just couldn’t tour so much. He didn’t want us to be stuck.”<\/p>\n Dahl<\/b> made his final recording appearance with ARTILLERY<\/b> on the aforementioned “Raw Live (In Copenhell)”<\/b> live album.<\/p>\n “X”<\/b> was recorded at Medley Studio<\/b> with producer S\u00f8ren Andersen<\/b>, with whom ARTILLERY<\/b> had worked with on every record since 2009’s “When Death Comes”<\/b>.<\/p>\n Longtime ARTILLERY<\/b> drummer Josua Madsen<\/b>, who played on the band’s last four albums, died in March 2023 at the age of 45 after being hit by a bus on a dark country road between Copenhagen and Roskilde, Denmark.<\/p>\n Back in the 1980s, ARTILLERY<\/b> was one of the biggest European thrash sensations on the scene, characterized by intense, energetic riffing and unique vocals of Flemming Ronsdorf<\/b>. Their debut album, “Fear Of Tomorrow”<\/b> and the follow-up, “Terror Squad”<\/b>, have gained a legendary status, becoming some of the most thrilling thrash releases of the late ’80s period.
