The 57th edition of the awards arrives with a slate of nominees across film, television, music, and literature, underscoring the depth of Black creativity over the past year.<\/p>\n<p>Leading the marquee Entertainer of the Year category are Cynthia Erivo, Doechii, Kendrick Lamar, Michael B. Jordan, and Teyana Taylor, while in the motion picture categories, <em>Sinners<\/em> leads all contenders with 18 nominations, followed by <em>Highest 2 Lowest<\/em> with nine nods. Television categories are topped by <em>Bel-Air<\/em>, which earned seven nominations. <em>Abbott Elementary<\/em>, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.essence.com\/entertainment\/inside-season-3-of-reasonable-doubt-hulu\/\"><em>Reasonable Doubt<\/em><\/a>, and <em>Ruth &amp; Boaz<\/em> follow closely with six nominations each, while <em>Forever<\/em> collected five.<\/p>\n<p>Taylor emerged as one of the most nominated individuals overall, earning six nominations, including her performances in <em>One Battle After Another<\/em> and <em>Tyler Perry\u2019s Straw<\/em>, along with recognition for her album <em>Escape Room<\/em>. Erivo followed with four nominations, including honors tied to her role in <em>Wicked: For Good<\/em>. In music recording categories, Lamar led with six nominations, while Cardi B and <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.essence.com\/of-the-essence\/leon-thomas-owning-his-aura\/\">Leon Thomas<\/a> earned four each.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe NAACP Image Awards is our declaration to our community that \u201cWe See You,\u201d affirming Black creativity, excellence, and humanity across every space where our stories are told,\u201d said Derrick Johnson, President and CEO of the NAACP. \u201cFrom film, television, and music to literature and beyond, the voices of all of our nominees tell stories that honor our past, celebrate our identity, and remind us that storytelling has the power to move culture forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Across companies, Netflix topped all platforms with 47 nominations. RCA Records led music labels with eight, while HarperCollins paced the literary field with eight nominations, followed by Penguin Random House with six. The NAACP also introduced two new categories this year: Outstanding Literary Work \u2013 Journalism and Outstanding Editing in a Motion Picture or Television Series, expanding recognition for behind-the-scenes and journalistic excellence.<\/p>\n<p>Nominations were announced live on CBS Mornings by host Deon Cole alongside NAACP President and CEO Derrick Johnson, with additional reveals on YouTube and NAACPPlus by Gail Bean and Marcel Spears. Public voting is now open at naacpimageawards.net through February 7, with winners announced during the February 28 broadcast.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe NAACP Image Award nominations underscore what we\u2019ve always known to be true\u2014our people are the heartbeat of culture,\u201d said Louis Carr, President of BET. \u201cTheir creativity, excellence, and commitment to telling our stories with authenticity and purpose continue to set the standard.
