\u201cI\u2019ve been extraordinarily lucky,\u201d Smart said in a 2025 joint ELLE interview<\/a> with fellow comedy icon Carol Burnett. \u201cI don\u2019t know why, but I have.\u201d That remarkable luck only continued tonight when she accepted the award for Best Actress in a TV Comedy Series at the 2026 Golden Globes. Tonight\u2019s honor marks Smart\u2019s third Golden Globes win out of four nominations\u2014in 2022, 2023, 2025, and 2026\u2014each of which have honored her performance as comedian Deborah Vance in the HBO comedy series Hacks<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Taking the stage for the third time at the Globes tonight, she joked that she was a \u201cgreedy bitch\u201d for having accumulated not one but three statuettes.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat can I say, I\u2019m a greedy bitch. Thank you to the Golden Globes\u2014I am absolutely thrilled to be here. I\u2019m one of the luckiest people, not in this room, in this entire business. It does not go unappreciated. I cannot tell you\u2014I have the best bosses, I have the best showrunners, I have the best cast, led by the brilliant Hannah Einbinder. My kids\u2026I\u2019m just surrounded by so much support, and this show has been such an incredible journey. Our writers\u2019 room, God bless you all. Thank you so much. There\u2019s just a lot that could be said tonight; I said my rant on the red carpet, so I won\u2019t do it here. Thank you. But let\u2019s all do the right thing. I think everybody in their hearts knows what the right thing is to do. So let\u2019s do the right thing.<\/p>\n

The aforementioned red-carpet \u201crant\u201d took place earlier in the evening, when Smart told Entertainment Tonight<\/em> reporter Kevin Frazier that filming on Hacks<\/em> season 5<\/a> was going well. However, she added, \u201cEverything\u2019s kind of overshadowed by everything that\u2019s going on right now in our country\u2026I feel like we\u2019re kind of at a turning point in this country, and I hope people can keep their heads because that\u2019s actually, really, the hardest thing, I think, is to keep our heads. It\u2019s going to take a lot of courage and concerns, but I think that\u2019s important.\u201d<\/p>\n
