And the winner for best needle drop of the night goes to… Macaulay Culkin<\/a>!<\/p>\n The Home Alone<\/em> star, 45, returned to the Golden Globes<\/a> stage for the first time in 35 years to present the award for Best Screenplay \u2014 Motion Picture on Sunday. And, naturally, he did so with the perfect song backing him up: Mark Morrison\u2019s 1996 hit, \u201cReturn of the Mack.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n Culkin appeared moved by the loud applause from the crowd as he took to the stage.<\/p>\n \u201cWow! Thanks, guys. It\u2019s been 35 years since I\u2019ve been to the Globes,\u201d he remarked. \u201cThanks for welcoming me back. That\u2019s really nice of you guys.\u201d<\/p>\n The former child actor dove into his speech by first poking fun at his Home Alone<\/em> fame. \u201cI know it\u2019s weird seeing me outside the holiday season, but, shockingly, I do exist all year round, I promise you,\u201d he teased. \u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cTonight, I\u2019m here to present the award for Best Screenplay\u00a0\u2014 Motion Picture, which actually makes a lot of sense,\u201d Culkin continued. \u201cI\u2019ve been reading screenplays basically since I learned to read.\u201d<\/p>\n He went on to describe a good script as \u201cthe basis of it all,\u2019 adding, \u201cNone of us would be here tonight without the ideas that the writers craft on the page. Here are the nominees for Best Screenplay \u2014\u00a0Motion Picture.\u201d<\/p>\n The stacked writing category saw Paul Thomas Anderson (One Battle After Another<\/em>), Ryan Coogler (Sinners<\/em>), Jafar Panahi (It Was Just an Accident<\/em>), Chloe Zhao and Maggie O\u2019Farrell (Hamnet<\/em>), Ronald Bronstein and Josh Safdie (Marty Supreme<\/em>), and Eskil Vogt and Joachim Trier (Sentimental Value<\/em>) all in contention for the award. His big break came just six years later when, at the age of 10, he portrayed the clever Kevin McCallister in John Hughes\u2019 1990 film, Home Alone<\/em>.\u00a0<\/p>\n For his performance as the quick-thinking wunderkind, Culkin was nominated in the Best Actor in a Motion Picture \u2013 Musical or Comedy category at the 1991 Golden Globes.
