A pair of Missouri state lawmakers on Friday were in court \u201cseeking to strike down a law designed to keep\u201d the Royals in the state as the team continues to weigh its ballpark options, according to Kacen Bayless of the K.C. STAR. Cole County Circuit Court Judge Christopher Limbaugh held a \u201croughly two-hour hearing\u201d in a lawsuit that could \u201cultimately determine whether Missouri\u2019s sweeping stadium-funding law will remain in effect.\u201d The lawsuit was filed in July by state Sen. Mike Moon, Rep. Bryant Wolfin and conservative activist Ron Calzone, who \u201cargue that the law is unconstitutional and should be struck down.\u201d Limbaugh did \u201cnot rule on the merits of the lawsuit on Friday, but the case could have broader implications on Missouri\u2019s efforts to keep the Royals inside state lines.\u201d The law, approved by state lawmakers last summer, \u201cserved as Missouri\u2019s bid to prevent\u201d the Royals and Chiefs<\/a> from moving to Kansas. Moon said that he \u201csupported the Royals remaining in Missouri,\u201d but the decision should \u201cnot be left up to the state\u2019s taxpayers.\u201d Moon: \u201cIt\u2019s great for the state to have them.
