\n\tXG<\/a>, aka the Xtraordinary Girls, have grown up into extraordinary women \u2014 which means it\u2019s time for a slight name change, according to the group.<\/p>\n \n\tAs announced Monday (Jan. 12), the septet\u2019s two initials will now represent \u201cXtraordinary Genes\u201d instead of original name \u201cXtraordinary Girls.\u201d In a release, XG\u2019s team states that the change marks \u201ca symbolic milestone for the group as all seven members have entered their 20s, signaling a new phase of artistic and personal growth.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\t\u201c\u2018Xtraordinary Genes\u2019 represents the innate creativity, individuality and forward-thinking energy embedded within each member of XG,\u201d the statement continues. \u201cMore than a rebrand, the shift serves as a declaration of evolution \u2013 from their starting point to the source that drives their artistry \u2013 as the group continues shaping culture without boundaries.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tComprised of Jurin, Chisa, Hinata, Juria, Cocona, Maya and Harvey, XG debuted in 2022 with single \u201cTippy Toes.\u201d Over the next two years, they\u2019d release two EPs: New DNA <\/em>(2023) and Awe<\/em> (2024).<\/p>\n \n\tNow, the Japanese girl group\u2019s debut full-length is on the way, with The Core <\/em>coming Jan. 23. In February, XG will hit the road on a world tour in support of the album.<\/p>\n \n\tAnd though fans still have a little ways to go before the full album drops, they got the first taste of XG\u2019s \u201cXtraordinary Genes\u201d era in the form of lead single \u201cGala,\u201d released in September. In a recent interview about the track and XG\u2019s future, executive producer JAKOPS (SIMON) told Billboard Japan<\/a><\/em> that the goal was to \u201ccreate the greatest record in the world.\u201d <\/p>\n \n\t\u201cThe seven members are growing at an astonishing, almost scary pace,\u201d he added at the time. \u201cIt does feel like we\u2019ve reached the end of one season.\u201d<\/p>\n
