\npress team and she\u2019s getting plenty of headlines all of her
\nown.<\/p>\n
Kensington Palace\u2019s media office has just added Liza Ravenscroft
\nto its cohort \u2013 she\u2019ll be working with the press team and alongside
\nPrince William.<\/p>\n
But a glance at her CV has led to headlines with an emphasis on
\ncrisis management as Liza Ravenscroft has spent several years at
\nglobal firms handling the really tricky parts of media
\ncoverage.<\/p>\n
In a world where everyone\u2019s life is instantly accessible, her
\nown CV and profile has been pored over in recent days. And her
\ncrisis experience is clear to see. She worked most recently at
\nEdelman, a global communications firms, and before that she was
\nwith the multinational hotel chain, Marriott, where she was Senior
\nDirector of Communications.<\/p>\n
She also has a strong background in broadcast journalism, with
\nstints at BBC 5 Live, France 24 and CBS Interactive in Brazil on
\nher CV.<\/p>\n
However, it\u2019s her own description of herself as being \u201darm in
\narm with big names facing their toughest times\u201d that has caught the
\nimagination. It\u2019s led to questions about whether that has been a
\nfactor in her recruitment by the Prince and Princess of Wales.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s now being reported that she will be working in a \u201dnon
\ncrisis role\u201d but her appointment could also be seen as judicious
\nplanning by William and Kate.<\/p>\n
For it is absolutely true that the Royal Family has had plenty
\nof crisis moments to manage in the past year. Just two months ago,
\nKing Charles stripped Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor of all his titles

\noffender, Jeffrey Epstein.<\/p>\n
Even the usually calm and serene Christmas celebrations at
\nSandringham came in for a different kind of scrutiny in 2025 as all
\neyes were on whether King Charles would be joined by his nieces,
\nPrincess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, after their parents lost
\ntheir titles and agreed to move out of the 30 room Royal Lodge on
\nthe Windsor estate which they had shared for over twenty years,
\ndespite ending their marriage in 1996.<\/p>\n
In the end, both Beatrice and Eugenie did join the royals at the
\nNorfolk estate for Christmas Day and were seen walking to and from
\nchurch, surrounded by family.<\/p>\n
However, in the few weeks since then, all kinds of reports have
\nhit online and newspaper sources asking whether the princesses went
\nto keep their links with the royals alive.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s an indication of the ongoing and deep rooted interest there
\nis in the Royal Family, especially when things are far from plain
\nsailing. Given the speed with which some stories have evolved in
\nrecent times, someone with expertise in handling difficult
\nsituations could prove to be a very good move.<\/p>\n
And with other headlines in recent days dominated by reports
\nthat Prince Harry wants King Charles to attend the opening ceremony
\nof the Invictus Games when they take place in Birmingham in 2027,
\nthere\u2019s no doubt that a firm focus remains on the family aspect of
\nbeing royal as much as on the public and constitutional. That, in
\nitself, puts pressure on the royals.<\/p>\n
However, iIt seems clear that the first job of the refreshed
\npress team at Kensington Palace is to get itself out of the
\nheadlines and the spotlight back on its stars.<\/p>\n
