Bad Brains<\/a> legend H.R.<\/a> has teamed with Canadian experimental collective New Age Doom for the collaborative album Angels Against Angels<\/em>, out March 6th.<\/p>\n The closing track \u201cAmaseganalo, Pt. 2\u201d can be heard now and showcases the album\u2019s genre-bending sound: a combination of cacophonous post-rock with elements of dub, punk, and metal. Providing the vocals and lyrics, H.R. \u201crejects racism, war, and injustice, calling for equality and dignity,\u201d according to the album press release.<\/p>\n \u201cThe vision was to bring H.R. into a space he hasn\u2019t visited in a long time, a sphere he helped create and pioneer,\u201d said Eric J Breitenbach, New Age Doom drummer and co-producer, in the press release. \u201cThe album thrives at the intersection of chaotic hardcore and spacious dub. Though it was never planned as a dub record, that sound\u2019s gravitational pull affected the music, shaping it naturally.\u201d<\/p>\n Related Video<\/p>\n He continued, \u201cWe didn\u2019t just want to revisit history, but to make a sound that doesn\u2019t exist anywhere else. H.R.\u2019s voice evokes survival, chaos, and hope all at once. This album is heavier, stranger, and more alive than anything we\u2019ve done. We\u2019re inspired and can\u2019t wait for people to hear it.\u201d<\/p>\n The ever-expanding New Age Doom collective now includes Andy Morin of Death Grips, Bowie BLACKSTAR keyboardist Jason Lindner, Quicksand drummer Alan Cage, and Pussy Riot (Riot Days) member Alina Petrova on electric violin. Returning musicians include Breitenbach, multi-instrumentalist Greg Valou, bassist Tim Lefebvre, now also on electric guitar, along with trumpeter Dan Rosenboom, Gavin Templeton on saxophones, drummer Benedicte Pierleoni, DJ CrookOne and Cola Wars on keyboards.<\/p>\n \u201cI think we\u2019ve struck a good balance between riffs, ambience, and melodic moments that our listeners are hungry for,\u201d said Valou, who also co-produced.<\/p>\n Pre-order Angels Against Angels<\/em> via Bandcamp<\/a>.
