When Universal<\/a> finally greenlit \u201cWicked<\/a>,\u201d casting director Bernard Telsey<\/a> certainly knew the musical.<\/p>\n

He brought Idina Menzel<\/a> and Kristin Chenoweth<\/a> to the iconic Broadway cast when it first opened in 2003 and has been seeking actresses to play Elphaba and Glinda<\/a> on stage for years since.<\/p>\n

When it came to casting the movie, his thought was, \u201cI know Marc Platt<\/a>, the producer, Jon M. Chu<\/a>, the film\u2019s director, and I certainly know the musical. Great, let\u2019s go get our favorite people.\u201d He laughs.<\/p>\n

Telsey is up for five Artios Awards nominations and, along with his partner, Tiffany Canfield, is shortlisted for the inaugural casting Oscar for \u201cWicked: For Good<\/a>.\u201d With years of experience casting film, television, and theater, Telsey admits the casting process for the film \u201cwas not that easy.\u201d<\/p>\n
