The British artist just announced her new album <em>Ambiguous Desire<\/em>, the followup to 2023&#8217;s <em><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/stereogum.com\/2215227\/arlo-parks-impurities\/music\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">My Soft Machine<\/a><\/em>. The lead single &#8220;2SIDED&#8221; is a glimmering preview.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;At its core &#8216;2SIDED&#8217; is about yearning and tension,&#8221; Parks says. &#8220;It&#8217;s about being struck by a bolt of desire and building up the courage to put language to that feeling, to make it real.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I danced more than ever as I made this record, I made more friends than ever too, found myself in the weird underbelly of New York juke nights, unleashed, laughed and laughed and laughed,&#8221; she continues. &#8220;This record has desire at its center. Desire is a life force, it\u2019s a wanting, a yearning, a momentum \u2014 we are all alive because there is something or someone we want \u2014 desire is an engine.
