in an interview with People Magazine<\/b><\/a> admitting to the outlet that the situation has taken \u201ca toll\u201d on her \u201cmentally and physically.\u201d<\/p>\n\u201cThese things happen and you don\u2019t want it to,\u201d the singer told People. \u201cI\u2019ve never had anything like this \u2026 mentally, you\u2019re going through a \u2018why me?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
Gayle told People she was currently looking at different treatment plans and surgery options for her injury.<\/p>\n
\u201cI can go and sit and sing, but it does put you in a difference place mentally \u2026 it is harder to get around, but hopefully in the near future, it won\u2019t be,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n
So, it does look like Gayle is intent on getting back in shape to get onstage, but she also took time to put her career in perspective with People.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve had a great career,\u201d she said. \u201cI\u2019ve had so many wonderful people behind me, behind the scenes, as well as people coming to the concerts. And I feel very lucky.\u201d<\/p>\n
Gayle first revealed her injury with a social media post ahead of her scheduled date in Belfast. <\/p>\n
\u201cI was truly looking forward to coming to Belfast \u2014 singing a few songs, sharing some stories, and spending some time with everyone,\u201d Gayle said in a press release per Taste of Country. <\/p>\n
\u201cBut my doctor tells me this knee isn\u2019t ready for those overseas miles just yet,\u201d she continued. \u201cI promise I\u2019ll be \u2018Ready for the Times to Get Better\u2019 \u2014 just not at 30,000 feet next week. Thank you for your understanding, and I hope we can make it up to you soon.\u201d<\/p>\n
Gayle, who is the sister of another country music legend, Loretta Lynn, was one of country music\u2019s most successful singers through the 1970s and 1980s, per Taste of Country. <\/p>\n
She is best known for her hits \u201cI\u2019ll Get Over Your,\u201d \u201cDon\u2019t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue,\u201d \u201cWhy Have You Left The One You Left Me For,\u201d and her last big hit, \u201cStraight to the Heart,\u201d which it No. 1 on the charts in 1986. <\/p>\n
