\n\tIt\u2019s time for a feel-good Mister Rogers song to get an update for a new generation.<\/p>\n
\n\tBillboard Family<\/a><\/em> is exclusively premiering a colorful new music video for \u201cIt\u2019s You I Like\u201d from PBS Kids\u2019 Donkey Hodie<\/em> below. The song was originally written and performed by the late Fred Rogers for Mister Rogers\u2019 Neighborhood<\/em> in 1971. The character of Donkey Hodie was also introduced on the classic TV show, as part of the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, and was spun off into its own series by Fred Rogers Productions in 2021.<\/p>\n \n\tThe video was directed by Haley Jenkins, the voice behind the show\u2019s title character, in her directorial debut for the show.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cFrom our first dance at our wedding to the song I sing my 3-year-old every night, \u2018It\u2019s You I Like\u2019 has become the soundtrack of love in our family,\u201d Jenkins tells Billboard<\/em>. \u201cGetting to direct it with the full menagerie of Donkey Hodie<\/em> characters was a true joy, and I\u2019m incredibly grateful to help pass that love on.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThe characters in the video include Jeff Mouse, who was named in honor of Jeff Erlanger, a young guest who appeared on Mister Rogers\u2019 Neighborhood<\/em> and famously sang \u201cIt\u2019s You I Like\u201d with Mister Rogers.<\/p>\n \n\tThe new Donkey Hodie<\/em> version of \u201cIt\u2019s You I Like\u201d \u2014 which will be digitally released on Friday \u2014 was arranged by Ashli St. Armant (aka kids\u2019 musician Jazzy Ash), who gave the track a New Orleans jazz-style update.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cI could not have been more thrilled to be asked to write a new arrangement for an original song by my childhood hero, Mister Rogers. (Can you believe he wrote his own songs?!),\u201d St. Armant says in an exclusive quote to Billboard<\/em>. \u201cThis project also gave me the opportunity to honor my roots in New Orleans and jazz, and to learn about the inspiring world of Donkey Hodie and her friends. I\u2019m so in love. I honestly get teary just thinking about it.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tWatch the video below:<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cIt\u2019s You I Like\u201d will be included on the five-song EP Donkey Hodie Hee-Hawesome Songs Volume 2<\/em>, which arrives on Jan. 23.
