\n\tAttention, attention! The Academy Is\u2026 is back. The pop-punk rockers announced their long-awaited return to new music with Almost There<\/em>. The LP arrives March 27, via I Surrender Records and marks the band\u2019s first new release in almost 20 years. Of course, the title is a nod to the band\u2019s influential emo pop 2005 debut Almost Here<\/em>.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cOur debut album, Almost<\/em> Here, felt like a promise that if we just kept moving, we\u2019d arrive somewhere permanent,\u201d William Beckett says in a statement to Rolling Stone<\/em>. \u201cTwenty years later, Almost There <\/em>reflects on the truth that you\u2019re never really done becoming who you are. Life keeps changing the definition of \u2018home,\u2019 and this record is us reckoning with that; an exploration on life itself.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tIn true flashback fashion, the Academy Is\u2026 have also shared lead single \u201c2005\u201d with the news. It\u2019s a daydream of a song with shimmering synths brushed up against Mike Carden\u2019s riffs and both drummer Andy Mrotek and bassist Adam Siska\u2019s insistent rhythms. \u201cKiss me, right here like it\u2019s the summer of 2005,\u201d Beckett sings on the wistful track.<\/p>\n
