The official name of Long Beach\u2019s new minor league baseball team<\/a> was announced Tuesday along with the name of its \u201calter ego\u201d: the Long Beach Regulators. Both monikers were revealed during Long Beach\u2019s State of the City address. <\/p>\n Officially known as the Long Beach Coast<\/a>, the new Pioneer League team<\/a> is set to play starting this season at the storied Blair Field, home of Long Beach State\u2019s baseball team, the Dirtbags. <\/p>\n \u201cAlter egos are nothing new,\u201d reads a text-only slideshow posted<\/a> to the team\u2019s Instagram on Tuesday. \u201cEvery week, Long Beach Coast will play as our alter ego. The Regulators.\u201d <\/p>\n The name, of course, is a nod to team co-owner Warren G\u2019s<\/a> smooth 1994 chart-topper \u201cRegulate,\u201d which also featured fellow Long Beach native the late Nate Dogg<\/a>, and celebrates Long Beach\u2019s G-funk hip-hop roots. <\/p>\n \u201cTo be able to say that I\u2019m a part of Long Beach, like a team that\u2019s part of the city where I was born and raised, is amazing to me,\u201d the rapper told TMZ<\/a> in September. \u201cWe\u2019re going to get it going and try to win some championships.\u201d <\/p>\n
